Moving To Bkk But?

Featured Replies

Greetings to the community.

Let me present myself.

I am a belgian citizen moving to BKK.

I intend to buy a business or a few businesses certainly using a business broker and try to make them work.

(This is not a so "foolish" move as I keep some assets back home)

I move with a non immigrant visa B (multiple entry)

I browsed the forum and made a lot of search and still have a few questions:

(I apologize deeply for some English mistakes)

- I have been suggested by sunbelt legal advisors to begin the process (ASAP) of launching

a thai limited company so I can apply for a work permit.

(seems there are no other means if u want to be a business owner and want to get a WP and I am not

american so.......)

but can I buy an existing business while in the process of getting my WP and limited company up?

(I suppose it will be considered as an asset sale?)

What if I agree to buy this business which is runing but still not have yet my WP??

- Taxation: If I understand well the limited companies are subject to a 30% taxes on the net profits.

To make it clear, the business is taxed at a 30% rate but do u also have in addition a personal income taxation??? (which is between 5 to 37%?)

I have a doubt reading the translation of the thai law articles due to the "juristic person" question.

Or being a limited company, am I only taxable on the company's net profits?

(back in my country, the equivalent of a limited company is only taxable on the net profits of the company.

- Limited company: I read recently that there is a closer scrutiny from the government institutions on the companies having at least one foreigner owning some shares.

Due to the legal requisites for a limited company (8 thais as shareholders having 51% etc..)

Are there still legal solutions to be the manager and owner of your company?

- Tax deductions: that can apply for personal income taxes, are they applicable (under conditions)

to the thai limited company too?

Thanks a lot for your answers
