Trat:- A British tourist was found drowned in the swimming pool of a well-known hotel on Koh Chang Sunday morning in what is believed to be a suicide following a quarrel with her husband, police said.

The tourist was identified as Ann Turner Rachel who checked into the hotel with her husband, Peter Stefan Brown, Saturday evening.

Her body was found at about 6 am. Half an hour later, the hotel staffs called Pol Lt Uan-ungkoon Kaewmueangklang, an officer on duty of Koh Chang police station, to inform him of the incident.

The police officer rushed to the hotel with rescuers of the Boon Chuay Lua Rescue Association of Trat.

They found the body facing down at the bottom of the pool at the depth of two meters. She was wearing underwear without a shirt. The husband was crying beside the pool, when police arrived.

A forensic doctor estimated she died about six hours earlier and died of drowning because there was water in her lungs.

Hotel staffs told police that the British couple were staying at the room No 135.

At 9 pm Saturday, the staffs saw the couple quarreling loudly at the room’s balcony before they entered the room and everything became quiet. A hotel staff later found the body at 6 am on the following morning.

Brown told police that he quarreled with his wife between 9 pm to 10 pm and he then went into sleep. He was woken up by the hotel staffs after the body was found.

Police checked the room and found several empty beer bottles.

Koh Chang police is waiting for clues and theories submitted by Thaivisa crime experts tongue.png

Okay. Very hard to drown oneself so I would be looking at whether the victim jumped from a balcony and landed on the water belly flop style rendering her unconscious.

The Devils island.

I thought that was Koh Tao or is it just one of those Thai bashing style terms that is just interchangeable at the drop of a hat depending on where a falang comes unstuck

Sad to say, but another one bites the dust! Seems like so many come to Thailand to commit suspected Suicide! so sad!

or it could just be that you get your news from a falang -centric website and don't consider how many people knock themselves worldwide everyday that never make the news perhaps.

he went to sleep after quarreling? While technically correct, it is kind of hard to fall asleep unless the quarreling has ended. Do you expect us to believe she just sat there on the other side of the bed and was quiet while he went to sleep?

Drowning does not make sense

Two two reports, one from Thailand and the one in UK do not sound remotely similar

If she is a string swimmer, chances of drowning are slim in a swimming pool unless drunk, on pills or dove in and hit bottom of pool

RIP to her

"Drowning does not make sense"

Then you give three situations in which it does. Weird.

Nobody cares what you believe. The news report was not made for ThaiVisa members to give their judgement.

I don''t think I would feel like posting on fb if my mrs just died. He claims they were thinking of trying to have kids- she was 42. Something about his story is a bit off.

Lets be honest I don't know why so many get so involved in these stories. The majority of stories on TV are "a bit off anyway". Could it be poor comprehension or jumping to conclusions before knowing any facts or bias reporting making statements way too early after an event has happened. Could it be poor translation from Thai to English? or worse still English to Thai and back again? Could it be that so many stories on here come from such reliable news outlets as Coconuts Bangkok and his ilk? or could it just be that a lot of people that seem to come to, reside in or spend a little too much time in Thailand were "a little bit off" long before they got to the Kingdom? Perhaps a combination of all the above. The speculation and outrageous conclusions many jump to on this forum however when very few facts are known are positively puerile.

If she was a 'string' swimmer then perhaps she hung herself.

Then yIf she hit her head it's ou give three situations in which it does. Weird.

If she hit her head diving into a pool, then it's an accident.

If she was intoxicated by any means then that too is an accidental death.

So he actually only mentioned two possible causes of death.

Both accidental.
