THAI TOURISM VISA IN LAOS VIENTIANE OR SAVANNAKHET ?

Featured Replies

hello

i'm french citizen, now in thailand and need to apply new visa soon.

Can you tell me if i can have double visa entry tourism in Thai embassy in Laos ? where is better to go vientiane or savannakhet ?

Also, someone know if they ask to show them booking of ticket flight (in and out thailand) and attestation of bank with minimum on account ?

Thanks so much for information !

Both are the same for getting 2 entry tourist visas. Vientiane is a little easier to get to than Savannakhet for some people. Savannakhet is less busy than Vientiane.

They do not ask for tickets out nor financial proof.

thank you so much !

for go there , what is the best way ? i'm in bangkok

You need to travel to Nong Khai for Vientiane. You can do it by bus or train. You can also fly to Udon Thani and get a van to the bridge in Nong Khai.

Savannakhet a bus to Mukdahan and then a bus across the bridge. Nok Air and Air Asia offer a fly/ride service to Mukdahan via Nakhon Phanom.

Not exactly on topic but can ubonjoe or others tell me the advantages and disadvantages of a marriage visa verses a retirement visa for a plus 50 married to a Thai person.

Sorry it is way off topic, Please post a new topic or do a search for one of the various topics where it has been discussed.

As I was asked this very same question the OP raised just yesterday I recommended the person go to Savannakhet based on the reasons this person gives in this article.

And there is of course also the option of flying on Laos airlines straight from Bangkok to Savannakhet

hi ubonjoe,

i have question i hope u can answer me :

now i have exemption visa 30 days until 9 june. i can do extension in immigration office in bangkok for more 30 days (i'm french) without go outside thailande.

so i will do it. then i will do double entry tourism visa in laos.

I will go by flght to laos. do i have to stay minimum of days out of thailande before go in the country with the double entry tourism visa ? or i can just stay in laos 2 or 3 days to get the visa and come back thailande ?

i see on other forum, can have 180 days of tourism visa per year maximum in thailande ; is it true ? because i already have 30 days exemption visa last february of this year. Its means i will have : 30 days (february) + 60 days (may /june) + tourism visa double entry (120 days) = total 210 days for this year

thank u for reply me

You can enter Thailand on the day you get the visa. There is no requirement to stay out of the country for any amount of time.

There is no 180 day limit on staying. That is pure rubbish info.

A border run will only get you 15 days unless you are from a G7 country that would allow 30 days. But can get the 30 day extension for either one.

A trip to Vientiane would get you a 60 day tourist visa.

Have a look at this companies website that does visa runs http://www.thaivisaservice.com.

hi,

when do u have to go laos ?

if u are alone and have car maybe we can share for fees and go together

I was in Savannakhet last week and getting a 2 entry tourist visa was super easy.

did you go alone and do visa by yourself in thai embassy or you go with company for visa run ?

I went alone. Because of my nationality I can't get Laos visa on the border. So first I went to Khon Kaen to get a Laos visa. Then I went to Mukdahan by bus and then continued to Savannakhet with special border bus. I stayed at Leena guesthouse. Because this is probably the most popular guesthouse, many visa runners stay here. Usually shared songthaews come here in the morning and take people to the consulate. Although, I rented a bicycle and went by myself, it was cheaper. Consulate is about 2 km from guesthouse.

Around the consulate, there are loads of places that can help you with the forms, pictures & photocopies. You apply for the visa until 11.00 am, and then collect it the next day at about 14.00 pm.

I haven't been to Vientaine embassy, but from what I heard Savannakhet consulate is much more relaxed and problem free.

From everyone that posts here, you can take what Master Joe says to the bank.

Hey there,

Not to be a killjoy but I am French and was asked for my bank statement at Savannakhet Thai Consulate last January while applying for double-entry TV (I had just been on a two-month tourist visa from Paris - from Nov 2014 to Jan 2015 - and had been back in France for 5 whole months before that). I was glad I had one with me.

Which is the cheapest airport to fly in & out of outside of Thailand if you want to activate the 2nd part of a double entry tourist visa? Anyone done this & roughly how much did you pay?

Kuala Lumpur would be the best option because no visa is required and the flights are normally not expensive if you buy the tickets in advance.

Check Air Asia for flight costs. http://www.airasia.com/ot/en/home.page

Just took a quick look at it. 3 hours to fly from BKK to KL but only 1 hour from KL back to BKK wow! Wondering why it takes so long to fly there lol

Actually, Scoot also has some good deals to fly to Singapore. Not sure about the visa situation but think it would be the same as Malaysia

There is a one hour time change involved. Malaysia is one hour ahead of Thailand.

Some flights to KL also make a stop on the way.
