Should work permit be cancelled prior to new job

I never thought Id be teaching again, but this school looks ok.

Originally planned to let the wp lapse, not go to ministry, etc...keep the book. FTW.

WP still has about a month on it, maybe less.

I have a wp that is still active although I had been released by school and have stamp in pp as verification. I do not have the letter (the fixer for the agency did nit give me a copy, despite my request).

Does the new school need cancel the wp or can it wait till mid June to submit when it has lapsed. I will be on usual 90 day probation.

The courier should be given the wp anyway to return or can I keep it as a souvenir?

The work permit will need to be canceled. You can cancel it yourself by submitting this form. http://wp.doe.go.th/wp/images/form/wp_cancellation.pdf

They don't keep your old work permit when it is cancelled.

If you look at the PDF I posted you can sign a power of attorney for anybody to cancel it for you.

The work permit should be cancelled when your job ends.

If you are moving from school to another school you can ( as I have been told ) transfer your work permit as you are doing the same job just in a different province - if it's a totally different job eg. School teacher to IT manager then you need new work permit and maybe new visa

A work permit cannot be transferred. A new work permit has to be applied for by the new employer.
