Phuket to hold disaster drill on 25-26 June

PHUKET(NNT) - Provincial authorities in Phuket convened for a meeting to prepare an emergency response drill in case of earthquake, evacuation of residents and management of temporary shelters.


The meeting was chaired by Deputy Governor of Phuket Punlop Singhaseni and attended by director of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center of Phuket Acting Sub Lt.Trakul Totham, mayors of various municipalities and relevant government officials.

Acting Sub Lt Trakul said that the exercise was conducted annually in order to improve information management and the directing and coordinating system in disaster situation. It is aimed at overcoming limits and preparing readiness of relevant staff so that they can handle the disaster situation efficiently.

This year the exercise will take place during 25-26 June with the first day dedicated to briefing and the second day to drilling practice in Si Sunthorn Subdistrict, Talang District.

Why not do some disaster drills on traffic offenders? There's PLENTY to go around and guaranteed a better return on investment!

I thought they had been simulating disasters, one after another for the last few years. No need for a practice drill, they are experts.
