Scissors attack suspect surrenders
THE SUNDAY NATION

BANGKOK: -- A 33-year-old man recently caught by a security camera stabbing and seriously injuring his 19-year-old girlfriend in front of her Bangkok home in broad daylight surrendered to police yesterday.

Messenger Worachai Leelawanlop told police that the victim, who had broke up with him, dismissed his attempt to make up with her and scolded his parents so he became enraged, attacked her with the scissors from her food stall, and fled.

Worachai, for whom the Criminal Court had earlier yesterday approved an arrest warrant, was presented to the press yesterday afternoon along with the six-inch scissors used in the attack.

He has been charged with attempted murder.

The woman was conscious but still in critical condition yesterday and was yet to talk to police, her relatives said.

The May 26 attack got public attention, as the video of it went viral on the Internet.

These acts of rage and uncontrollable anger are becoming quite numerous considering the population in Thailand. I guess years of suppressing feelings and smiling while saying mai pan rai are finally catching up to people. I hope one day the gov will see the relation to this.

Scum.. hoping he gets an eternity in the dankest, dirtiest sewer of a cell surrounded solely by violent crooks keeping him in check constantly. This was as disgusting an attack as you can possibly get

" The May 26 attack got public attention, as the video of it went viral on the Internet." If it went viral how come I can't find a link to it?

Happy to say I have no wish to see a young girl being attacked with a pair of scissors. But I do hope the person you shared the link with enjoys it.

That's you. Why are you acting the drama queen?

The assailant stabbed the poor girl at least four times then ran like the coward he is.

Some of us will just take your word on it.

Why should anyone "enjoy" watching an idiot stabbing an unarmed girl?

Why would anyone request to see a video of a idiot stabbing an unarmed girl ?

Don't shoot the messenger. The CCTV was posted here on TV by the news team. Tsk.

Go and have a lay down.

You mean the "messenger" who just called someone a drama queen? That's not just a message. It's bad manners.

Why do some members keep asking the same question? To elicit a reaction, perchance?

The video was posted days ago by the TV news team and some members will want to view it for their own reasons. Are you the TV police?

Nobody requested the link to this video. I just provided it. I thought other forum members also might be interested in watching it. That's all. Me and my wife watched the video some days ago when the news about this incident was posted here on TV. And the only reason for us to watch this video was to see what happened. Please don't read something bad into that.

All people I know don't like censorship on principle.
If they are provided with information they are not interested in, they are intelligent enough to not read, watch or listen to it. But they never complain about too much information - As they have their principles.
And no, the op is not about child pornography!

Back on topic: I wish the lady a quick, full recovery - physically and mentally.
There is not much more I can contribute to this very sad topic.

same here. although there is a sort of morbid fascination to it, i have no desire for something like that to be lodged in my subconscious mind. there's enough bad stuff in there already.

There is an element of voyeurism to it.

I'm glad Araiwa posted the link so we can make a personal choice. I choose not to click because I'm of the opinion that it brings no value to me in terms of education, or entertainment. Just like I don't watch boxing or MMA or WWF.

Someone else is entitled to a very different opinion, with no judgment from me.

Disgusting the way the Thai guys "helped' her. She had just been stabbed and they picked her up and walked her to a seat. Anybody with any first aid experience would know that she should be laid down in a comfortable position and compress the wound and treat for shock etc. Nobody was interested in getting a pick up to take her to Hospital. Do any Thai people ever learn First Aid ? They sure like to watch.

Ah. The old "i did it because i became enraged" excuse that the guys who do these sorts of crime seem to use every time. Its always said as some sort of justification for their actions.

Is it a translation thing?

poor bugger lost face because she dumped him, from what I have seen in Thailand that is a number one case for the macho male hero to stab, shoot, strangle etc the girl because his mummy always told him that he could have/do whatever he wanted. This really does show how pathetic thai males are when they resort to this sort of crap due to face or being enraged because they dont get their way. Big learning curve needed here to stop this sh*t, they need to start with the parents though as they are the ones that actually encourage it in the first place, just hope they lock this um up and he gets his kama inside and learns to squeal like a pig.
