BANGKOK: -- After the draw today, selling of lottery tickets for the June 16 draw will be controlled at 80 baht nationwide.

Vendors selling over 80 baht, starting June 3, is an offence and violater could face imprisonnent or heavy fine.

Meanwhile lottery vendors or retailers assured that they were willing to cooperate with the gvernment to sell lottery ticket at 80 baht starting June 3.

But they said the price of the lottery would remain at around 100-120 baht until today’s lottery draw.

The retailers admitted that they would be losing profits with the lower prices and must sell out all the in demand numbers first, as starting June 16, they would no longer be able to sell the lotteries in sets and all with the same number, meaning there could be a large amount of lotteries left in the market before the next draw.

They said they must also lower the prices of lottery even further to around 50-70 baht, before the day of the winning number draw on June 16, as they could not afford to have large quantity of lotteries left on hand as they could lose further profit.

The retailers said they would like to suggest the Government Lottery Office (GLO) sell the lottery straight to them without going through a middlemen, as currently, the net costs of the lottery are not the same, depending on whatever price the middlemen wanted to sell them for.

On the other hand, the public expressed that if the lottery could be sold at 80 baht, it would be a good thing.

One customer said ” if the government is set on selling the lottery at 80 baht, then those who selling it at a higher price must be arrested and prosecuted.”

For this lottery session, numbers in high demand or lucky numbers such as 91 and 92 are being sold at the price as high as 150 baht, as the numbers associated with the age of the revered abbot of Wat Ban Rai, as wll as numbers 59, 85, and 97 which were also sold out before the draw this afternoon.

If they really really ment this they should supply hot lines phone numbers in Thai and english so that the traders that are not selling at 80b can be dobbed in.

The trouble with this idea is that the lines would be overloaded then they will put it into the too hard basket just like TOT and not answer the phones but leave the music running till you hang up.
