what's all the fuss about the proper implementation of visa laws?

thailand's already the laughing stock of so many in so many ways - but as we see from the recent court decisions, they may start cleaning up their act!

this has nothing to do with the thaksin regime, but with properly managing a country - and with a sensible immigration policy.

many upset posters in here are the first ones to complain about not so legal immigrants in their home countries. thailand always had open doors for everybody and is full of all kinds of refugees, but some of them though think they're of a much better human sort.

this is the moment to get your papers in order. during more than a decade in thailand I've never heard of a long term visa rejected if proper papers are presented. if you don't got the papers, migrate to some other banana republic you'd like to complain about.

and in case you don't read thai newspapers: thais welcome this more proper and more reasonable implementation of visa laws. this society may be very anti-foreigner and even racist in its roots, but the less little arrogant self-declared kings from abroad we got here, the more foreigners will be appreciated here again.

and give me a break - it's still a very open visa policy. for people with no wrong intentions that is to say. and exactly because of people with rather ill intentions our better, albeit innocent part of foreigners has to face the music.

anyway, the new stricter implementation of existing laws is long overdue. don't forget how your home country handles such policy: expect to be treated as what you are: as a foreigner with a role in the society here. period..

face it: in many ways it's not the third world country anymore you always complain about.

and there's still more than enough tolerance here. and now shoot me.

While this change doesn't really affect me and i have to agree to a certain extend . But what is bothering...changed Visa laws for Tourists, change of Visa for those who invested 3million Baht ...maybe next time it is a change for those who have wife and kids here?

A change can be good and helping to sort out certain shortcomings. But it gives me this unsecure feeling that my Visa Type could be next....having lived most of my grown up live in Foreign Countries i can't really say that i have experienced a similar situation before ....it is just a bit worrying

What about those of us that have no intention to stay and work but just happen to make numerous trips during the year and dump lots of cash I might add. I have 3 visits in the book already this year and have tickets for October and then in December. Now I cant go because my last trip in August is not 90 days ago. And now my Decmber plans are now up in the air also?

By the way I just called EVA air who I fly to BKK and they knew nothing of this new regulation effecting frequent VISITORS. They cant belive this.

If your last two visits are more than three months ago, you will have no problem getting into the kingdom. If your last three visits were in the last three months, apply for a tourist visa now. I think you still have time for this, providing there's a consul or embassy in your home country. It usually involves sending your passport in registered mail, and I believe it takes about a week.

Oh and somehow it doesn't surprise me that EVA doesn't know yet, rest assured they will know soon. And they won't be pleased with this.

Yes I think after reading the varied opinions and individual circumstances looks like I, as well as frequent visitors, just have to mail away for a tourist visa for every trip that I make now.

And hope that the passort doesn't get lost in the mail!
