Will LTF Be Discontinued?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

There was mention last year the tax incentive for LTF fund would be discontinued at the endof 2016 (meaning any payment from 1st January 2017 on wards would get no tax relief).

Is there any update as to whether the government will implement this or not?

Thanks.

Not sure what the current state of play is. LTFs originally were initiated to encourage longer term investing in the Thai equity market through tax breaks, but the program had a finite time period.

Since November last year there have been some articles in the Nation and Bangkok Post suggesting tax breaks on LTF contributions might be extended further, with some adjustment. For example lower tax break and longer holding period. Time frame 1Q 2015 for approval - haven't seen any updates to suggest the changes have been approved.

Thanks Misty,

Well it's good to know the game is still in play. No news is good news as it were. Let's hope they confirm continuing it :-) It's a bit hard to plan strategically for future investments and savings while uncertainty remains.
