Ed Visa : Is this old news? (4 days a week, 2 hours a day)

Featured Replies

Got an email from a language school regarding changes to how the ED Visa works. Not sure if this has been posted before, I know it's something that's been going back and forth for a while...

"A new regulation has been confirmed by the MoE that ED visa students must now study 200 lessons for the duration of the 2 ED visa 90 day extensions. This means for you that you must attend 8 lessons per week. The new regulation also stipulates that ED visa students should attend school 4 days per week and study 2 hours per day. This means that, in order to maintain the education standards that the MoE has set, you must adhere to the new regulation, and study 4 days per week and two lessons every day...

...
Regarding study of Thai, the Ministry of Education requires that all ED visa students perform at an equal level for speaking, writing and reading. Therefore for your benefit and stability, we request that all students study in the same level for speaking and writing. This will ensure that you pass your test at the Ministry of Education"

Yes it is old news.

Some schools doing enrollments for 400 hours of study so you can stay a total of a year with 90 day extensions and the 90 day visa entry.

Ah, ok, maybe it's new for this school. The secondary part about having to study speaking and writing at the same level seems a bit counter productive to me but I guess it's more about passing a test than actual education.
