BOT governor selection underway

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The Bank of Thailand governor selection committee will convene on June 10 to screen the qualifications of all five applicants, said a Finance Ministry official.

Fiscal Policy Office director-general Krisda Chinavicharana said that all the applicants would then be asked to show their visions to the committee on June 16.

The committee then would submit Finance Minister the list of at least two candidates.

He is confident that the selection process would be completed at least 90 days before the incumbent governor’s term would be expired.

Prasarn Trairatvorakul’s term will expire in September.

Applying for his job are two deputy governors - Tongurai Limpiti and Paiboon Kittisrikangwan. The three outsiders are Virathai Santiprapob, an advisor of Thailand Development Research Institute; Supavud Saicheua of Phatra Securities; and Kiatchai Sophastienphong, a former central bank official.
