JAKARTA: -- Indonesia now has a new counterterrorism squad, which was launched on Tuesday by Indonesia’s Armed Forces, or TNI.

According to The Jakarta Globe, Inaugurated by TNI commander Gen Moeldodo, the special unit has been named the TNI Joint Special Operation Command, or Koopsusgab.

Moeldoko said Koopsusgab was prepared to fight any act of terrorism that threatened Indonesian sovereignty and would protect civilians.

“We will face any source of terrorism, whether Al-Qaeda or the Islamic State now, that threatens the country. If Bali is threatened, for example, we will directly move there. We will focus on areas prone to acts of terrorism,” Moeldoko was quoted as saying by Kompas.com.

Koopsusgab will be stationed in Sentul, West Java, and will comprise of 81 trained counterterrorism personnel from the Army, the Navy’s special forces (Denjaka) and the Air Force’s Bravo 90 special forces unit.

Indonesia’s counterterrorism has until now been handled by the National Police’s elite Densus 88 unit, which has had considerable success in combatting terrorism in Indonesia.

I respect the decision made by Indonesia.

I wholeheartedly wish them every success.

Didn't know one needs this huge binoculars to see terrorists coming.

I think those binoculars are standard issue among NATO countries, the bloke in the picture is obviously looking through them from the wrong end though.

Great, does that mean the army won't be supplying the terrorists with weapons any longer?
