Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar join hands combating human trafficking in fishery industry

CHONBURI, 11 June 2015 (NNT)- The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has recently held a meeting with representatives from Indonesia and Myanmar in an attempt to solve human trafficking crisis in the fishery industry.

The meeting was held at Dusit Thani Hotel in Chonbur. More than 30 participants and high ranking police officers from Indonesia and Myanmar attended this event.

Many Thai and migrant workers have fallen victim to human traffickers in their pursuit of jobs in the fishery industry on Ambon and Benjina islands in Indonesia.

The Thai government has reportedly had difficulties in taking legal action against the perpetrators as the crime took place overseas.

The DSI has also cooperated with those working in the Australia-Asia Program to Combat Trafficking In Persons (AAPTIP) in organizing this event, during which participants vowed to provide financial support and cooperation in order to crack down on human trafficking once and for all.

There is no Dusit Thani Chonburi, so I'm sure they meant the Dusit Thani Pattaya. Or, are they too embarrassed to admit that they held this phoney-baloney meeting in Sin City? Would love to see the CCTV footage of their late-night hotel guests.

They do in their ring.

They couldn't give a flying frog about such a thing.

They do, after all, profit from it, so really, they are coming together to paste over it for the international community with token gestures and sincere sounding promises, while turning around and continuing on as ever.

OK so this is the meeting at a luxury resort that is the result of a previous meeting at a luxury resort. The previous meeting came to no conclusion other than to schedule this meeting. The outcome of this little junket is that they have vowed to do something about it, any solid plans, real initiatives, goals or KPI's. I didn't think so.

These guys are unreal, only one name fits them a name used by crooks against them, a name from Orwell's book "Animal Farm"

"The Thai government has reportedly had difficulties in taking legal action against the perpetrators as the crime took place overseas."

It's difficult for Thailand to combat human trafficking when it's everyone else's problem. Maybe the solution for the Junta is to give all trafficked people a FAST PASS so they can travel through Thailand as quickly as possible without disturbing Thai society.

My wife and I went to Burma last week and this kid got the dirtiest looks from the local Buddhists as if he was a Jew in nazi Germany. All he wanted was to get out of Burma because they don't let him have ID papers, he is forced to live in a slum across the river in Yangoon. Smart kid and supposedly spoke 6 languages as he had been playing tour guide since he was 7. post-236911-14341664095784_thumb.jpg
