CHONBURI: -- Lottery tickets now sold at 70 baht in Sri RachaLottery tickets now sold at 70 baht in Sri RachaLottery tickets now sold at 70 baht in Sri Racha

A lottery dealer at Muang Sri Racha market in Sri Racha district of Chonburi has now lowered lottery price to 70 baht a pair, or 10 baht below the government's 80-baht control price to cut loss as there is one day left before lottery draw tomorrow and she still has plenty left unsold.

According to ASTV Manager, the dealer Mrs Vimolnant Phobunthong at Talad Muang Sri Racha market, she has to dump price down to 70 baht because she still has more than 8,000 tickets to be sold until the lottery draw tomorrow (June 16).

Although it would mean a loss this time, she couldn’t avoid because if they were unsold, she would have insufficient cash to buy the tickets for sales in the next draw.

She said she obtained the tickets from Bangkok at 73 baht a pair for 130 lottery books (each book comprises 100 tickets).

However this time business was bad due to several days of rains, thus leaving more than half or 8,000 tickets she got left unsold while there was one day left before the draw.

She had no choice but to dump prices down, she said.

By dumping the prices down, she admitted business was recovering after many vendors came to buy from her to resell as they were cheap, she said.

She also revealed other dealers questioned her the reason to dump price, and she explained the reason and need and they didn’t protest though unhappy with her.

Meanwhile elsewhere in the country, lottery vendors complained they could hardly sell lottery tickets this time although price was brought down to 80 baht.

One main reason lottey vendors complained was the less number choices for customers to choose as the quotas granted to them by the GLO was too small.

They said small vendors get only five books each as quota which was too small to sell and would like the GLO doubles that quota to them so that there will more numbers as choices for customers.

still seeing 102 in Chiang Mai

if she sells out is she making 91k a month?

if she bought 13,000 tickets at 73 baht, cost 949,000

if she sells 5000 at 80 baht, 400,000

if she sells a further 8000 at 70 baht, 560,000

so in this instance 960,000 - 949,000 = 11,000.

This entire lottery system in Thailand is so ridiculous and sick, it should be wiped out entirely and tickets be sold at Minimarts only, with a lucky number that the computer system determines, like the one when buying a top-up slip for mobile phones. This would bring an end to all the hypocrisy and hysteria and Mafia

But if she sells out other months 13,000 at 7baht profit each is 91k

thats quite a lot isnt it?

It is ridicules that they can not sell back unsold tickets, but there again this is Thailand and could open up the system to fraud...

As a business owner you have to accept you will gets some bad months from time to time, she needs to hang on in there and bounce back next month.

Seeing that they do not buy back unsold tickets maybe a word of mouth system matching sellers who want to of load to sellers who want to buy...

Apart from mini marts, why not big supermarkets and gas stations? as long as it illegal for the discount as well as over charge.

Actually it would be 182,000 a month as the lottery is twice a month, so a lot indeed!
