Can I re-enter Thailand if I overstayed by 1 day?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I can't find a definite answer to this question online, and I've not been able to contact the embassy (the phones have been busy and no email response).

I'm a British passport holder, and my visa exemption expired on 16th August 2014 - and I left on 17th August 2014. I was wondering whether I'd be able to re-enter Thailand or whether I'm on some kind of blacklist now.

I hope you can help!

Cheers,

Will

You are not on any blacklist. You can re-enter Thailand any time you like. An overstay is not a serious offence and usually they only make you pay a fine.

A one day overstay is nothing. You will have no problem entering the country. Many people with much longer overstays have re-entered the country.

re-enter ok,฿500 p/d overstay,no problems.

You're good. Yes you can.

No worries.

They don't usually worry about just the one day

'An overstay is not a serious offence ...' This needs clarifying. It is a serious offence. One day, in itself, is not serious; nor is a few days or weeks. But get into months, and a ban is on the cards.

There is no ban for an overstay.

If you are basing your comment on the new rules that were announced last year they were never approved by a higher authority.
