Getting Non- B single entry in Kuala Lumpur

Featured Replies

Hi,

i have to get another single entry NON-B visa (for the 3rd time, but i have my work permit already), i was thinking to apply it in Kuala Lumpur but a little bit scared because i dont know anything or news on how to get visa there.

1. Is it easy to apply non b single entry there? or they look for many documents? (i have the full complete set of documents for apply the non b - visa)

2. are there any hotels near the area that do the visa run/ services (like Penang)

3. Can i Get the visa next day? or should i wait for like 2 days

Thanks! hope someone can help me with these questions

Applying in Penang might be better. if you have still 8 months on the work permit you will even get a multiple non-B there.

Next day service is the norm in Asia, also at KL. But they are currently not the easiest Thai consulate.

My suggestion is go anywhere else for your non-b.

I cannot predict what they want because they have become so inconsistent in their requirements. You should contact them to confirm they will issue the visa and what their latest requirements are. http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur

It is next day service to get the visa.

Don't even consider going to KL, they are now one of the most difficult Thai Consular facilities to deal with in SE Asia.

Penang are fine for non 'b's if you have the correct paperwork.

If you have more than eight months validity left on your Work Permit then you can also get a One Year Multiple Entry Non Immigrant 'B' at Penang on presentation of the required company/school documents.

Don't know if things have improved in KL but several years ago I went there with my wife, she is Thai and it seemed like a good idea for a short holiday while getting the business done for my Visa.

We had to queue in the blazing sun out on the street before we got into the place and as I recall, the staff there were less than helpful. So maybe you should give KL a big miss!

Most recent experience for me was one year ago for KL (have done non-B twice in 2 years at the KL embassy)

Applied for the non-B in the morning, picked up the following afternoon.

Took a full set of documents with me, had no problems, but this is my experience - I am aware of other anecdotes of people being knocked back.

Dress respectably, no shorts or flip flops is my advice. It will set you apart immediately from the tourists.

There are a few hotels nearby on or near Jalan Ampang with convenient bus to/from either KLCC or Ampang Park RT stations. Do a map search on Agoda around the Thai consulate.

I nabbed a fantastic one bedroom serviced apartment 5 minutes walk away for around $55 last trip. There are other cheaper options, but not many - it is an embassy suburb.
