British National Arrested for Dealing Drugs

SIHANOUKVILLE – A British man was arrested by anti-drug police in Sihanoukville on Thursday night for selling methamphetamine and ketamine, police said.

Emery Charles William, 48, a long-term resident of the coastal town was a well-known drug dealer, police said.

Waitress Arrested for Serving Crystal Meth

PHNOM PENH – A waitress was arrested late last week for selling crystal meth, following the arrest of her supplier, police said.

Suspects Sang Pov, 26, and Chan Viet, 33, had been working in tandem in Chbar Ampov district at the time of their arrest, according to police. Deputy district police chief Moa Sert led the raid against what police described as a distribution network.

Young Men Struck Dead by Lightning

ODDAR MEANCHEY – Two young men were found dead in the middle of a clearing in a forest in Anlong Veng district on Thursday.

Boun Phal, 21, and Run Rong, 16, had been hunting, their parents said.

Infant Dies after Choking on Fish

PHNOM PENH – A seven-month-old girl died on Friday morning after swallowing a small, live fish that had slipped out of her aunt’s hand and into her mouth, police said.

The infant’s aunt, 35-year-old Chea Sopheap, had been taking care of her while her parents were away.

Night of Drinking Leads to Jail, Hospital

KANDAL – A drunken man attacked his friend on Thursday night after food slipped from a plate onto the floor while the pair were drinking and eating, police said.

Suspect Keo Samnang, 30, became enraged when his friend Thon Makara, 30, dropped food on the floor while bringing a plate to their table at a home in Prek Russey village.

University Student Hangs Himself

PHNOM PENH – A university student hanged himself in his rented room in Teuk Thla commune late last week, police said.

Leoung Samnang, 22, from hails from Takeo province, had been studying at a university in the capital.

Mr. Samnang was from a village in the province and had a small room in a building where several other students lived, residents of the building said.

Mentally-Ill Man Commits Suicide

SIEM REAP – A man with a history of mental illness committed suicide late last week by slicing his throat.

The 51-year-old had received no professional treatment for his mental illness despite suffering from an undiagnosed disorder for several years, neighbors said.

Witnesses say they were horrified. After Prak Sovannara sliced his throat he went into convulsions and staggered around outside his home before collapsing on the ground and dying.
