As per usual, a terribly written article. It appears the guy who shot the murderer is being charged with murder, but the murderer is being charged with assault. From the headline and opening sentence, you'd assume the guy who got shot would be the deceased. However, it appears the guy who got shot actually stabbed someone to death.

It reads as you read it. 'Shot to death'. Only the one shot, so someone got his or her knickers tied up in knots.

Perhaps some of these students should be enlisted and, unusual for the Thai army though it would be, found an active duty posting in a war zone. Never the same when someone is shooting back, especially when there are a lot of them.
