ISOC reports drop in number of incidents in Deep South

PATTANI, 25 June 2015 (NNT) – The Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Region 4 has reported a major drop in the number of violent incidents during the holy month of Ramadan.

ISOC said that during June 18-24, only 5 incidents were reported, one of which was a security-related event. Another was ruled an accident and police are investigating into the three other cases.

Local shops in the Deep South have also abided by the ISOC’s ban on the sales and manufacturing of fireworks and fire crackers during the month.

The command further added that the month prior to Ramadan also saw a 73 percent decrease in the number of incidents.

ISOC said security measures continue to be in place and local residents have the freedom to practice their religion in peace. The National Council for Peace and Order has also allowed local radio broadcasters with pending license agreements to go on air from June 17 to July 16 to help publicize the proper Islamic code of conduct.
