Thailand's consumer confidence drops for 6th straight month

BANGKOK, 2 July 2015 (NNT) - The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) has reported that consumer confidence fell for a sixth straight month in June.

The index was compiled from a survey by the UTCC's centre for economic and business forecasting.

The confidence index last month was 74.4 points, a drop from 75.6 in May. The falling index was due to the export slump and reflected a worrying outlook for both the Thai and global economy. The Greek debt crisis contributed to slow recovery in the world economy as global markets feared the country was headed towards default.

Consumer confidence was also affected by the ongoing drought crisis and the flagging prices of agricultural produce.
