Just got back from a holiday in Siam Reap and I either lost my passport on the bus to the bts or getting off the bus.

I need to fly the 18th to phistsanulok(sp?) And it's not really something I can cancel. If I can't get one in time I'll have to take the crazy long bus ride there and back.

How quickly can I get a new US passport and do they offer express service.

Get a police report then go to the embassy. You may have to make an on line appointment. Normal service for a US passport is 2 weeks. I got my new passport in 7 days. When you pick up the passport you will get a letter from the embassy to take to immigration. Go to immigration and get this done as you need an entry stamp. As for any travel inside Thailand, I would not go any where without the pp. No express service and cost of a new pp is 110 USD, they do take baht and plastic.

Here's the passport page: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/passports.html

Not sure if you can get a "regular" passport right now because of the computer glitch, if not, then you will be able to get an "emergency" passport which is still good for travel. Should take about 3-5 days, they'll EMS it to you, or you can stop by to pick it up.

Please let us know how it goes.

FYI, an appointment is mandatory: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/acsappointment.html

Good advice above about reporting the passport lost and obtaining a new one. That should be your first priority. However, it is possible to fly domestically without showing a passport. You can show a Thai drivers license instead.
