Change from non ed to non o based on marriage

Featured Replies

How can i do this? Do i have to cancel my visa before going to Lao savanaket ? Do i have to make a re entry permit in case things go wrong? Is it easy to get a multiple entry visa?

Also, once in bkk can i get the year extension by showing monthly income document from my embassy for 40 000? Or they only accept 400 000 thanks for answers in advance !!

First you should check with your immigration office if you can apply straight for the one year extension with fund in bank for Bt 400,000 or monthly income of 40,000, because according the regulations you meet the reguisite of non-imm. visa (regulation do not say it has to be non-imm 'O' or what else).

Second, once you ED visa or extension expires, you can obtain a 60 days extension of stay. No funds are required for that and it ca be issues for any visa type or visa exempt.

Then, only if you can't obtain the first point above you will need to go to Savannakhet for a single or multiple entry non-imm 'O' visa. You can read on the multiple threads that on in this same page about that.

So i dont need to change visas whatsoever? I can just extend based on marriage with the same non inmigrant? (I wonder because the visa states " NON ED" doesn't it? It would be great if i dont have to leave at all.

That is what the written regulations say - your non-immigrant visa is valid for an extension of stay based on marriage, link below.

What some offices do as a discrimination against holders of ED visa and extensions is to deny this right, forcing the foreigner to leave and return non-immigrant 'O' visa.

You cannot change non immigrant visa categories. You can change the reason for your extension of stay from attending school to marriage. But some immigration offices will not do it.

If you live in Bangkok I think you will have to go out for a single entry non-o visa. There have been reports of them not doing the change.

You can get the single entry non-o in Vientiane, Savannakhet or Penang. You don't need to get a multiple entry non-o if you plan on applying for an extension based upon marriage.

Thanks for the info, id like to apply for multiple entry because i have read reports about people not being allowed to use the 40 000 monthly income as financial proof

I( have seen no reports of people being denied an extension if they had proof of 40k baht income.

I have done 7 of them using my income.

Is a document from my embassy stating im making 40 k per month enough?

The document from your embassy is enough. There are a few offices that may ask for back up proof for the document.

Is cheang wathana one of those? If so how can i get back up proof if the money is transfered through the embassy account ?

Chaeng Wattana does not ask for back up proof.
