cookee68
Drunk cop drinks because he is sad, wife says By Coconuts Bangkok BANGKOK: -- The wife of a traffic police officer who admitted to being drunk on duty begged the public to feel sorry for her husband, who started drinking because of their daughter’s sickness. Siriorn Wongchai, 33, wife of drunk cop Jakkawarn Wongchai, 51, answered the door to reporters yesterday who clogged their police flat after a video of her husband, who was on duty drunk, was talk of the town. Siriorn, who has lived with her cop husband for 17 years and has three children, said her husband has just started drinking when their youngest daughter, 5, was recently diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS. Facing monthly hospital bills, Siriorn said her husband is stressed because he is the only person providing for the family. Full story: http://bangkok.coconuts.co/2015/07/07/drunk-cop-drinks-because-he-sad-wife-says -- Coconuts Bangkok 2015-07-07 Please use your judgement carefully and think about why the person who took the video was stopped on the road. Don't just try to find fault with police," she said. Maybe he thought the driver was zigg zagging along the road, when in fact he was driving straight, and the police mans head was zigg sagging, due to the beer he had drank, he should be sacked, end of story
wabothai
feeling sorry does not make this right and the man is probably not the only one. Cops cannot be drunk on the job period.
chickenslegs
I hope there will be some help available for this man and his family. Poor sod must be almost suicidal. I just googled 'amyotrophic lateral sclerosis' If it is true that his 5-year-old daughter has this awful affliction, she will not have long to live and she will suffer terribly. Clearly, he was drunk on duty. But he hasn't killed or injured anyone. He didn't take out his gun and shoot someone for making him lose face (as has happened before). As far as we know, he wasn't even seeking a bribe. So he's not exactly public enemy No.1. There is a saying about walking a mile in someone's shoes.... jacko45k
And they have 3 kids... Accidents from being drunk? Well she has been living with him since she was 16!
greenchair
The guy that he stopped was clearly in violation of a traffic law. The policeman was doing his job and stopped the wrong doer. The driver continues to deflect the fact that he had done something wrong. The driver should take responsibility for his wrongdoing. Leave the cutie cop alone. callaway
Would rather spend time with the well mannered, friendly (albeit drunk) and pleasant copper than some of the "hang em high" mob on here. He spoke pleasantly and decently to the people in the car. Normally if half done they get full of bravado and aggressive but this guy was very civil. Why the crew in the car needed to post online is anyones guess. Sure he did wrong but does nott need to be taken and publically flogged. The media should just let the story die and let the police deal with it internally. It would be my pleasure to buy this guy a drink,I am sure he would accept, As he appears a decent bloke.
