Import Duty

Has anyone noticed if the import duty into Thailand has increased? I have been buying reel to reel machines from the US and importing them to Thailand and approximately the duty has been around 40%. Now when I look at machines for sale the duty appears to be about 80%. So I am thinking there has been a big increase in the import duties. I am glad in one sense as now the higher duty will stop me buying any more machines but I will be arriving in Swampy on Wednesday morning with about 100kgs of machines and tapes and should I expect to pay a lot of duty on them?

Why are you bringing old reel to reel machines over?

Surely there is not much demand for this outdated method of recording?

To me they are a work of art. I enjoy working on them. Just brought two through Swampy and I did not have to pay any duty.Have about 10 here in Thailand, three still in the UK and one on the way from the States. In good condition they will increase in value. Wifey has told me to stop buying now as the house is getting full with them and she wants some more gold.
