The man and his Honda Scoopy were still trapped under the tree when rescue workers arrived.

PHUKET: -- A motorcyclist is in critical condition at Vachira Hospital after being struck by a falling rubber tree in the Thalang last night (July 6).

At 10pm, Kusolharm rescue workers were called to the scene of an accident where a rubber tree had fallen and hit a motorcyclist on a small road leading to Baan Ya in Srisoonthon.

Upon arrival at the scene rescue workers were led to the unidentified man who had sustained serious head and facial injuries when hit by the falling tree. The man and his Honda Scoopy were still trapped under the tree when they arrived.

“The tree was brought down by strong winds,” said a rescue worker.

“Earlier we were called to help a woman who had also been hit by a falling tree when she was riding her bike on the Old Airport Rd in Mai Khao,” he addded.

The man was initially taken to Thalang Hospital but was later transferred to Vachira Hospital were he still remains in a critical condition.
