BANGKOK, 8 July 2015 (NNT) - The Department of Drainage and Sewerage of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has visited the Khlong Lat Mayom community to gather information and inspect the causes of flooding in the area.

The department’s team of experts on Wednesday surveyed the Khlong Lat Mayom community and checked its drainage and sewerage system. The team also met with the community’s residents and called on them to help make the canal clean.

The department may buy more boats to collect solid wastes in the canal since they are an important factor that causes flooding in Bangkok. The department will use the flood preventive measures of the Khlong Lat Mayom community with other communities across Bangkok.

Khlong Lat Mayom is a small canal branching off from Bang Ramat and Bang Phrom canals. The Khlong Lat Mayom community is a “monkey cheek” area where water is collected before it is released to Tha Phra canal and the Chao Phraya river.
