best place for first time Non B

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm in the process of setting up a company and was wondering if anyone knows the best places to go to get a Non B single entry for the first time?

I was thinking about Vientiane or savannakhet

Vientiane or Savannakhet both are good.

You will need a work permit application approval letter from the Labor Ministry at any nearby location.

Penang is a good solution too as there is no need to go to the consulate. You can use the services of an office for 500 Thb.

Last time I went to Vientiane, had to be in front of the gate 2.5 hours before opening because so many people. Savannakhet has changed the regulations in February ; you can't have you visa in the same day, you need to spend one night there and honestly not too much things to do. And reaching that town is quite a hassle from the south of Thailand.

Hope that helps

laos or penang;

depends on where u are

Thanks for replies.

I think I'll choose Vientiane if it is a good option. Flight to Penang is a lot more expensive at the time I'm going. From BKK I can get return to Udon Thani for 1100 b, Mukdahan 2500 b and Penang 8500 b so quite a big difference.

I've already been to Penang and Savannakhet (agree with you about Savannakhet, there really is not a lot to do there) and not been to Vientiane yet so might as well take the chance to see it.

How much is it to get the bus from Udon Thani to the border at Nong Khai?

If I recall correctly the van from the airport to the bridge costs 200 baht/
