How did Trump Get Elected?

Are Democrats truly the party of the working class? Were Clinton and Obama allies of the working class? If you read political forums, you'll see that the left often blames Reagan for the country's problems. I wonder if they ever consider how Clinton and Obama negatively impacted the working class.

Do you want to know who got Trump elected? Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Bill Clinton signed NAFTA into law, and Ross Perot was right about the "sucking sound" of jobs leaving the country. Then, Clinton granted China most-favored-nation status, which led to the loss of 3 million factory jobs in the USA. Following that, Obama came along and negatively impacted the coal industry.

Here is a 2024 study showing how NAFTA flipped many historically Democratic areas to Republican.

https://www.aeaweb.org/articles?id=10.1257%2Faer.20220425

In September of 1993, the Clinton administration released a letter signed by

283 economists, including 12 Nobel laureates, urging Congress to ratify the North

American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). “The letter is part of a concerted White

House campaign to rebut the criticisms of the trade agreement made by Texas bil-

lionaire Ross Perot, who has begun spending large amounts of his considerable

fortune to promote his view that NAFTA will destroy American jobs,” reported the

Los Angeles Times.

https://www.epi.org/blog/china-trade-deal-will-not-restore-3-7-million-u-s-jobs-lost-since-china-entered-the-wto-in-2001/

China’s entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001 is widely cited in economic analyses as a primary driver of significant U.S. job displacement, particularly in the manufacturing sector. According to data from the Economic Policy Institute (EPI), the growing U.S.-China goods trade deficit between 2001 and 2018 resulted in the loss or displacement of approximately 3.7 million American jobs

Additionally, include the 2009 housing bubble crash, which devastated working-class communities. The roots of the housing bubble began under Bill Clinton.

Let's ask the question again. Are Democrats truly the party of the working class?

Not as much as they should be.

But compared to republicans, yes.

Republicans are the Trump party now of course.

The most corrupt and anti-democracy regime in American history.

The Democratic Party has caused more harm to the working class than the Republican Party. Additionally, the significant inflation under Joe Biden has severely affected the working class.

The Democrats support mass immigration, which affects the lower end of society.

The employment rate of black men, and particularly of low-skill black men, fell precipitously from 1960 to 2000. At the same time, the incarceration rate of black men rose markedly. This paper examines the relation between immigration and these trends in black employment and incarceration. Using data drawn from the 1960-2000 U.S. Censuses, we find a strong correlation between immigration, black wages, black employment rates, and black incarceration rates. As immigrants disproportionately increased the supply of workers in a particular skill group, the wage of black workers in that group fell, the employment rate declined, and the incarceration rate rose. Our analysis suggests that a 10-percent immigrant-induced increase in the supply of a particular skill group reduced the black wage by 4.0 percent, lowered the employment rate of black men by 3.5 percentage points, and increased the incarceration rate of blacks by almost a full percentage point.

If you're even asking that question, you're living on a different planet than I am.

How could you not see it is fascist and also the most corrupt regime in US history?

You would say that, I don't have time for people who don't see what Trump is. It would be like a Russian who doesn't see what Putin is.

The time you spend explaining why you can't provide any examples will be longer than it would take to write a simple sentence with a few examples.

What is happening here is that you want to shift my critical view of the Democrats and redirect it toward a discussion about Trump.

How do Trumps get elected ?

Just look at the mess in Spain with the 50'000 illegals who forced entry. This is one exemple amongst many others. Consequently, the moderate voters get fed up and end up in voting for extremes. Simple and no rocket science.

I agree with you. I think mass immigration impacted the last election. Also, the rise of right-wing parties in Europe is driven by mass immigration.

Very true Sir. And not to forget the main denominator that is inflation. You make absurd and unfair political choices, you attack the welfare issues of your own, allow inflation to set in with wrong political choices and that a one way no return ticket to have the extreme left or extreme right get to power. This has happened in many nordic european countries where more was spent on asylum seekers and much was cut from the state pensions etc of the locals..and so on. Well they looked for it after as far left or far right at the end of the day leads only to social unrest and trouble. But if when there is no choice...no hope left...

$300 million spent by Musk in blackening Harris's name might have had something to do with it. Plus Trump's empty promises of no more wars, and no cuts to Social Security and Health.

It's hard to believe Americans were suckered twice.

There are currently no cuts to Social Security; however, long-term modifications are necessary.

Yes, to pay for a war that was going to be over in a few weeks.

America nearly went bankrupt during and after Vietnam. It forced Nixon to sever the US dollars' link to gold.

Not in recent history, no.

Maybe partially, though not enough to pick up the slack. It was ultimately the shenanigans that Biden’s handlers were pulling with the loony Russia thing, the whacky indictments, the blatant crazy demented Biden sharp as a tack nonsense and to further worsen things up they swapped out Biden for airhead Harris. Looking back at it, one would think that it was all joke, a deliberate setup plan for a failed campaign. Perhaps there’s some sort of secret society conspiracy at work in the background toying around with everyone.

Good and valid points, though most folks these days don’t really retain the attention span think that far back for deciding a vote.

That's it..... now the GOP has more ammunition for the upcoming elections by showcasing the chaos consuming Spain and other countries with liberal leaders.

It's not chaos.

About 50000 people attempted to enter two Spanish enclaves within Morocco.

Tragically many of them died at sea.

At this point, they've all been expelled from the enclaves.

It never involved the main part of Spain.

This evokes fond memories for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Spain should hire Kamala Harris to address the root causes.

You seriously think Clinton or Harris would have done a better job. Scratch Harris, total idiot, but don't have much respect or confidence in Clinton as a leader either.

Let's see, Golda Meir, Margaret Thatcher, Julia Gillard, Claudia Sheinbaum, Jacinta Ahern.

Americans simply don't have the maturity to elect a woman as their leader.

You must hide your hatred of women very well when you are with them.

Nominate one that can do the job. Being a woman is not a qualification.

Harris, she was a joke, and Clinton, was only in politics to peddle her influence. Clinton Foundation donations sort of dried up, as soon as she loss. Nuff said.

The gals you list, had a few issues of their own ...
