How do I get a multiple-entry Visa?

Featured Replies

Hello, forgive me if this has been asked a million times, but after looking through the forums and going to the embassy sites I am still confused.

I am 32 years old from America. I would like to stay in Thailand 6 - 12 months as a extended tourist, depending on how things go.

What is my best option on the Visa application? Should I apply for triple entry or Multiple entry? Or are they only issuing double-entry?

Also I've noticed they want date of arrival and departure and proposed length of stay. Do I just get a 1-way ticket, put that info down and then estimate the rest?

You can only get a tourist visa with a certain number of entries. If you are applying in the states you will only get a 2 entry visa. In the space for number of entries write 2.

What you need as far as tickets to get the visa depends upon where you are are applying.

For the trip to here you do not need a return or onward ticket.

Thanks so much for the quick reply.

I'm in Texas, so I was going to mail the application to the embassy in DC.

Is each entry good for 30 days or 60 days?

And then I can get a 30-day extension on each period once in Thailand, correct?

And if that ends up being only 4 - 6 months, then after that I would go to a neighboring country and get a new Visa, yes?

If you are near Houston or Dallas you could apply for your visa in person at the honorary consulates located there. Contact info here: www.thaiembassydc.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/HCG_Jan15.pdf

A tourist visa allows a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office. A 2 entry visa would give you about 6 months of total stay.

After that 6 months you could go to Laos and get another 2 entry tourist visa.
