Got my second re-entry permit this year for my second trip.

When I came back a few days ago via Phuket the immigration officer opened my passport at the re-entry page (latest one right hand side, previous one left side) and asked which re-entry permit?

I shook my head and asked myself " what the heck?"

I filled in the last re-entry permit number on the arrival card, so what?

The officer then did much small talk about my retirement extension (why Phuket, do you have a Thai wife etc?)

He gave back my passport and I checked the permit to date, OK until the retirement extension expiration date.

At my hotel I checked my passport thoroughly wondering.

The latest re-entry permit has a Used stamp with date 10 July 2015.

The previous one does not have the Used stamp, but you can clearly see both dates in and out of Thailand underneath.

Thus I guess the immigration officer at previous entry forgot to stamp the re-entry permit with the Used stamp.

Now the 1000 baht question: I plan a 3rd trip, use the first (unused?) re-entry permit or safer to get a 3rd one?

This is a good one....

Even if a immigration officers makes a mistake at the border you alone are responsible to have a the correct stamp (re-entry) in your passport.
