Dear all,

With the recent changes in immigration law for the Kingdom of Thailand, I would like to make a few comments on my view about the new situation for the Tourist Visa.

First of all, I'd like say that in some ways it's a good idea to cut the illegal workers but also a shame to the people who don't work and that come here often to stay with there loved one or family, and other purposes i.e. touring the Kingdom of Thailand.

As we know there are many people working here illegally, and of which I have proven by talking and networking with people. But it's not just the tourist that is working here illegally, it's also the Thai people that are also not paying TAX's.

Many tourists that come here to stay with there girl/boyfriend use a Tourist Visa on double entry. They receive money from outside the Kingdom of Thailand from other investment sources or from family members abroad. This is bringing money into Thailand of which the Tourism Industry and Thailand need to sustain it's economy. We can't blame every tourist that they are working here illegally unless proven.

By cutting the Tourist Visa to limited time of 90 days maximum, this will cause an effect on Thailand's economy as a whole. Tourists that used to come here, will no long have the enjoyment of staying in Thailand and will result in fewer tourists coming here every year.

Here is one example of a tourist in Thailand. He has girlfriend and she works in high end job earning enough money to support them both. The boyfriend is recieving money from a house a bought in the UK and is renting the property out. He is getting the cash deposited into his account in the UK and he can withdraw from any ATM machine in Thailand. He then spends money on transport, food, electricity, water and other essential living expenses. This brings the economy and wealth of Thailand to its needs. But here is the best point, he is NOT working. This is perfectly legal and is wrong to issue the Tourist Visa with only 90 days thinking that they are all workers with out proven record. Also just note, with only 90 allowed to stay in the country, this means, its temporay girlfriend or boyfriend time. How are we supposed to get to know each other. PETHETIC!

Now in my view, it would be more appriate if the law did not change and that more investigations into illegally employment by employing more staff at immigration and police to do this rather than to lose a tourist.

Another example is that someone maybe coming here 1 week every month. There is no way that this person would be working.

Investigations is the only the answer to fix the problem, not to discourage tourists away from Thailand. At the moment I have negative attitude to the Thai people here now, I am begining to hate Thailand and its government. Everything here is totally unfair and the police here are useless. All they want to do, is make money by pulling people over. It would be better if they helped in the investigations by pursuing people that they see as suspecious or any strange activity for tourists that get up at 6am everyday waiting for a bus or taxi.

Final Note

Thailand will crash its economy by forcing people not to re-enter for up to 90 days and tourism will fade into dust. Don't change, investigate is the only answer. :o

You seem to have got your facts wrong - have you bothered reading the many threads regarding changes to the 30/15 day stamp on arrival...... There is no change to the Tourist visa regulations. You can come to Thailand as many times as you please providing you've bought one.

Dear all,

With the recent changes in immigration law for the Kingdom of Thailand, I would like to make a few comments on my view about the new situation for the Tourist Visa.<wrong>

First of all, I'd like say that in some ways it's a good idea to cut the illegal workers but also a shame to the people who don't work and that come here often to stay with there loved one or family, and other purposes i.e. touring the Kingdom of Thailand. <N/A>

As we know there are many people working here illegally, and of which I have proven by talking and networking with people. But it's not just the tourist that is working here illegally, it's also the Thai people that are also not paying TAX's. <just TOURISTS don't work ,, tourists don't work>

Many tourists that come here to stay with there girl/boyfriend use a Tourist Visa on double entry. <They still can>They receive money from outside the Kingdom of Thailand from other investment sources or from family members abroad. This is bringing money into Thailand of which the Tourism Industry and Thailand need to sustain it's economy. We can't blame every tourist that they are working here illegally unless proven.<They aren't ... they are reacting to Karr .... they want people to pay for a visa>

By cutting the Tourist Visa to limited time of 90 days maximum, <They haven't> this will cause an effect on Thailand's economy as a whole. Tourists that used to come here, will no long have the enjoyment of staying in Thailand and will result in fewer tourists coming here every year.<It won't>

But here is the best point, he is NOT working.<So far so good> This is perfectly legal and is wrong to issue the Tourist Visa with only 90 days thinking that they are all workers with out proven record. <They haven't> Also just note, with only 90 allowed to stay in the country<Not Accurate!>, this means, its temporay girlfriend or boyfriend time. How are we supposed to get to know each other. PETHETIC!<Far off base ... but keep going to the bottom>

Now in my view, it would be more appriate if the law did not change and that more investigations into illegally employment by employing more staff at immigration and police to do this rather than to lose a tourist. <N/A ... except that requiring a visa is allowing for Immigration o at least pretend to look at people>

Another example is that someone maybe coming here 1 week every month. There is no way that this person would be working. <Could be working ... but unlikely>

Investigations is the only the answer to fix the problem, not to discourage tourists away from Thailand.<That is what requiring a visa is all about> At the moment I have negative attitude to the Thai people here now, I am begining to hate Thailand and its government. Everything here is totally unfair and the police here are useless. All they want to do, is make money by pulling people over. It would be better if they helped in the investigations by pursuing people that they see as suspecious or any strange activity for tourists that get up at 6am everyday waiting for a bus or taxi.<Traffic police are not Immigration.... They aren't responsible for asking the average folks on the street if the have a visa or a job>

Final Note

Thailand will crash its economy by forcing people not to re-enter for up to 90 days and tourism will fade into dust. Don't change, investigate is the only answer. :o<Better get caught up with what the rules say .... I'll try and explain below>

OK ... You are upset and you don't have a grasp on what is required under the new interpretation of THAI Law... Understandable. Lots has been said all over the place and the early posts were WAY off base.

1) Tourist visas have not been restricted ... as many as you can get then you can keep using them ... back to back ... until you can't get one again. Then it is likely that you WILL be able to get one outside of SEAsia. So that means on a double tourist visa issued outside of Thailand that you can be here 60 days and extend for another 30 days for 1900 baht then you must cross a border and can IMMEDIATELY walk back in as you have another entry visa <<VISA --- operative word!>> so you get another 60 days plus an extension for 30 days for another 1900 baht.

2)So supposing you have used up your Tourist VISAS and have thus been in Thailand 180 days. You can now cross a border and back immediately and you will be allowed entry on a visa exemption. This is when your 90 days starts ........ or does it? You now do two more entries on visa EXEMPTIONS <assuming you are from a country that gets 30 days> You have now been in Thailand for 270 days! You are now NOT ELIGIBLE TO ENTER ON A VISA EXEMPTION FOR 90 DAYS! DAYUM!

3)So what to do? You don't want to go home to the UK .... You get in a plane. You fly to a consulate nearby and you ask for a Tourist Visa! When you get it you start the above scenario again. Can this be stopped? sure! but since now you have 270 days to learn more ...you can relax! And learn! Who knows ... get married ... find a job .... etc etc

The point for Thailand as explained several times in here ... and to me personally at Immigration is ... YOU MUST have a Visa. Thailand MUST have the right to vette you.

Is it true, or just nonsense? I've read every post in every thread that pertains to the new visa requirements. Summarizing the posts:

- no one will be left to teach English

- condo prices will plummet

- farmers will go bankrupt (no farangs to nurse sick water buffalos back to health)

- the Thai economy will collapse

- bar girls will be forced to become...bargirls - heck, some things never change

In the late-60's, when the US car makers were forced to make cars more environmentally friendly, the story goes that "Detroit" hired 100,000 lawyers, and "Japan, Inc" hired 100,000 engineers. I'd be interested in knowing what non-white foreigners are planning to do. Are the Japanese in a tizzy? Are the mid-Easterners whining? Or, are they doing something useful?

my visa would expire by thursday, what shall i do?

Start another thread with "my visa would expire by thursday, what shall i do?" as the heading, include:-

The type of visa you have and the expiry date of the VISA

Your nationality

Whether you have any form of extension of stay

Do you have a work permit / wife

Where in Thailand you are at present

You will then receive accurate and useful advice, without this info. we will be just guessing :o
