Myanmar quake has no impact on Thailand

BANGKOK, 21 July 2015 (NNT)-The Department of Mineral Resources has said the 5.6 quake in Myanmar reported earlier this morning has not had any impact on Thailand.


Director of the Mineral Resources Department’s Active Fault Research Division Suwit Kosuwan said the quake, which occurred at 08.27 hrs today in Myanmar, is located 171 kilometers away from Khun Yuam district of Mae Hong Son province.

The Department of Mineral Resources will continue to monitor as it is a regular precaution measure despite no report of injuries or damage in Thailand.

Ranong beach goers warned of rip current

RANONG: -- The Ranong Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office Tuesday issued warning for tourists to watch out for possible rip current during the time of strong wind and high waves.

Kolawat Supsongsuk, chief of the office, said his office has put up signs at beaches where rip current could happen because of strong winds and high waves at the moment.

About 9.5 million tonnes of rice are expected to be exported this year
