Anyone ID this pretty snake?

Featured Replies

I would say by the shape of the head, its Poisonous, leave alone.

If I don't know what it is, the shape of the body normally does it for me to leave it alone........................tongue.png

If I don't know what it is ... I don't care what shape it's bits and pieces are ... I just leave it alone.

It looks like a rubber cat snake ... not a cobra as some think ... It is looking for food ...

This is young Boiga Cyanea also known as "Green Cat Snake".Juveniles are orange to red in colour, but will change into brown and then green after a year or so. And unless you stick your finger inside it's mouth, this snake is harmless.

You appear to know your snakes. Would this be one (Boiga Cyanea) also? Found on a tree branch in the backyard just above my head where I like to sit and read.

About 60cm in length, 1.5cm diameter, green on top and light green/yellow underneath.

Golden tree snake , I think

rule of thumb

normally all poisonous snakes will have a diamond shaped head....non poisonous will have bullet or square shaped head..

Not sure if this is a joke, but as an amateur herpetologist I can tell you it is completely wrong.
