According to the following article, he has to come back. :D

Thaksins' wife, children stay at Chansonglah

Pojaman Shinawatra, the wife of ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, is confirmed to have returned to her residence "Chansonglah" with her two children, Panthongtae and Paethongthan, Friday.

The source also said the three stayed in a safe house in Pahonyothin area after the coup took place on Tuesday night. The reports that they went to Singapore were all rumours to disguise their actual locations.

Earlier newspapers have reported that the three went to Singapore and prepared to fly to London to meet up with Thaksin.

Their second child, Pinthongtha, is currently in London with Thaksin.

The Nation

Well I think it's time to seize Pojaman's shoes and give them to all the farmers who missed out on the cow Taksin promised them: same material, different form :D:o such an impolite gift would also remind the farmers just what their benefactor really thought of them. Edited by fruittbatt

I live around the corner from his sister's house and nary a creature stirring. I've met her on a few occasions socially and a more repugnant woman you wouldn't want to meet. She carried the bag up here in Chiang Mai.

restricted with silk cords, perhaps? or just a case of Phay-up shut-up? Well deserved for highway robbery apart from any other considerations.

The Criminal Thaksin still has many friends and allies inside and outside Thailand. It also appears that he has support from his many International connections.

My worry(and nightmare) is that he sees himself as some sort of Saviour Leader in exile just waiting for the right opportunity to return.

People like Thaksin and his cohorts don't give up that easily !

I still believe this news item to be relevant:-

Panlop warns of coup by 'Thaksin's officers'

Bangkok Post, Thailand - Sep 14, 2006

Former deputy chief of the Internal Security Operations Command (Isoc) Panlop Pinmanee has warned a coup d'etat may be staged by government-loyalist soldiers bent on ''setting up a new order'' in the armed forces. Gen Panlop, dismissed from the Isoc reportedly in connection with the alleged car bomb against caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, said no soldiers, except those favouring Mr Thaksin, have the power to bring about change militarily.

Taksin did exactly what Bill Clinton did in the USA, bought the elections. Clinton did that through media control and should have been ousted as thaksin has been. Good job Thai military

LOL ... that's sad! But since you even can POSSIBLY think that way ... it explains the name.

Thaksin's political demise was brought on by hubris ... nothing more and nothing less.

Well if Thaksin was one of our Thai partners he would have to return to Thailand and apply for a visa to the British embassy - since he is clearly now just a Thai citizen he should be required to do this. However as usual I expect it will be one law for the rich and another for the poor as usual.

someone suggested clinton should have been "ousted" - from an outside perspective he was one of the best presidents the usa has had in years - not only that but he was a stud too!! :o

From the inside perspective too!

But this thread is about Thaksin ....

Thai PM will return, says his astrologer

By Sebastien Berger in Ban Mi

(Filed: 23/09/2006)

The astrologer of the ousted Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra said he had foreseen his demise — but also his return to power within little more than 18 months.

Phra Khru Wichitsuthakarn, 64, is the abbot of a monastery around two hours north of Bangkok, and one of the kingdom's foremost soothsayers.

His last consultation with the ex-prime minister was by telephone two weeks before Tuesday's bloodless coup that removed him from power.

"When it's an important situation he will call me for a suggestion," the monk said in his office at Wat Khang Khao, or "Bat Temple".

"I warned him before the coup to be careful, there will be enemies who want to attack you but they won't kill or hurt you. After this period, be careful of the revolution."

The week before the coup, launched by the head of the armed forces, an attempt was allegedly made to assassinate Mr Thaksin with a bomb.

"I suggested he change where he sleeps, where he stays, and that he go travelling temporarily," the monk said. "Of course he believed it. He went outside Bangkok and stayed in the villages; he went abroad."

BANGKOK, Thailand (CP) -The army commander who seized Thailand's government in a quick, bloodless coup pledged Wednesday to hold elections by October 2007, and hinted that ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra may face prosecution.

Gen. Sondhi Boonyaratkalin led a precision takeover overnight without a shot being fired, sending soldiers and tanks to guard major intersections and surround government buildings while the popularly elected Thaksin, accused of corruption and undermining democratic institutions, was abroad.

Asked if there would be moves to confiscate Thaksin's vast assets, Sondhi told a news conference that "those who have committed wrongdoings have to be prosecuted according to the law." He did not elaborate.

I wonder what influenced the following predictions which seem to be a clear contradiction to the abbots.

All the forecasters seem to be unaminous about the Toxins non return to power.

There where thousands of forecasters on T.Visa who made predictions a long time ago that have come to pass.

Credit due to all of us for consistently forecasting even when it was not a forgone conclusion.

In some members minds that is, funny thing is they seem a bit thin on the ground retracting their statements. :o

I now await the bad " Karma " Toxin and his cronies truly deserve to reap from the last five years of abusing the constitution while in power.

Not forgetting Thailand and it,s true citizens who where consistently lied to and mislead.

Future looks bright after the coup, say astrologers

APINYA WIPATAYOTIN

Thailand will enjoy a brighter future and greater political stability in the aftermath of the coup while ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra will have to take refuge overseas for a long time, astrologers say.

Speaking for the first time after Tuesday night's coup, leading fortune-tellers shared optimistic views about the destiny of the country under the military junta.

Kitti Chaikijpinyo, of the Astrological Association, said from now on Thailand will enjoy substantial political and economic development because Saturn, Rahu and Jupiter have been moving into the right position, which would bring luck to the country.

Regarding the future of the ousted premier, he said, Mr Thaksin would not return to the political arena again.

''His zodiac can't get along with the country's star,'' said Mr Kitti. ''If he manages to make a comeback, he will be jolted by a similar crisis.''

Another astrologer who declined to be named, said everything was back on the right track after the coup d'etat.

''People will enjoy political stability and a healthy economy,'' he said.

The abrupt change of the political situation might be influenced by the recent demotion of Pluto's status from a planet to a dwarf planet, he said.

He agreed with Mr Kitti's prediction that Mr Thaksin would not come to power again.

However, the president of the Astrological Association, Pinyo Pongcharoen, thinks differently.

Stars told him that political conflict would drag on for at least another four years and would reach a peak in 2010, when another major political change would take place.

''I can't say whether it will be another coup d'etat in that year,'' he said.

But Mr Pinyo added that Mr Thaksin would not return to Thailand soon.

Astrologers have gained much credibility as many had predicted months earlier that the country would face a major political change in September, possibly through a military coup.

However, many of them refused to make a prediction on the country's future for fear that their star readings might be regarded as criticism of the Council for Democratic Reform under Constitutional Monarchy (CDRM).

Kijja Taweekulkij states on his fortune-telling website that he will stop forecasting the political situation for a while as the country was under the coup's rules.

''However, I can assure you that a group of people who destroyed the country will be heavily punished,'' he said.

APPEAL FROM LONDON

Thaksin seeks privacy for family in Bangkok

Pojaman and two children apparently staying back to look after assets

Ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who has taken refuge in London, appealed late on Thursday for privacy for his family, as his wife and two of their children are still in Bangkok to look after the family's many assets.

Pojaman Shinawatra has been seen in Bangkok since her husband was toppled by a military coup on Tuesday. Panthongtae, the family's eldest child, and Paetongtarn, the younger daughter, are staying with her at their Chan Song Lah residence in Bangplad, Thon Buri.

A tight-lipped Thaksin had little to say to reporters waiting outside the London apartment where he has holed up since arriving on Wednesday from New York, where he tried to stage a counter coup, according to Agence France-Presse.

Asked what his plans were, he replied simply: "Stay with my daughter, that's it" - a reference to Pinthongta, with whom he had earlier been seen near the Dorchester Hotel, haunt of the visiting rich and famous.

"I say nothing except please leave my family [alone]," he added.post-9005-1159012529.gifpost-9005-1159012529.gifpost-1263-1125731161_thumb.jpgpost-9005-1159012529.gif

It is not known why Pojaman and the two children have not flown over to London to reunite with Thaksin.

However, it is an open secret in the capital that the Shinawatra family still keeps some Bt50 billion from the sale of Shin Corp to Temasek Holdings of Singapore in Thai banks, including Siam Commercial Bank, Bangkok Bank and Thanachart Bank.

Pojaman has apparently stayed on in Bangkok to look after the family's assets in Thaksin's absence. He husband cannot return home for fear of being taken into custody by the Council for Democratic Reform under Constitutional Monarchy (CDRM), which organised the coup.

Bank of Thailand Governor MR Pridiyathorn Devakula said yesterday the central bank had not moved to freeze any assets of the Shinawatra family.

"We haven't frozen any assets because we don't have the authority to do so. And no one has ordered us to do so. We can freeze assets only when instructed by the authorities," he said.

One of the CDRM's priorities is to organise a new National Counter Corruption Commission - to which the coup-makers yesterday appointed nine members - to go after the assets of unusually rich politicians in the Thaksin government.

Pridiyathorn confirmed that the Shinawatra family's Bt50 billion in proceeds arising from the sale of Shin Corp shares remained in the country.

"I estimate that no large amount of Thai baht has been converted into overseas currencies. However, I don't know whether the money could have been packed in suitcases and taken abroad because the Immigration Bureau is responsible for this matter," he said.

On Tuesday, when the CDRM launched its coup, Pojaman hid at a safe house in the Phaholyothin area of Bangkok. After that she reportedly returned to her Chan Song Lah residence, where she was joined by Panthongtae and Paetongtarn.

There were early reports saying that Pojaman had flown to Singapore and was preparing to fly on to London to meet her husband and Pinthongta.

Paetongtarn will be taking an exam at Chulalongkorn University's Political Science Faculty on Monday. Panthongtae still lives a normal life, going to work at his How Come Company.

Police and military personnel have provided tight security for the Shinawatra family, deploying guards along Soi Charansanitwong 69, where they have their residence.

While his family is being monitored by Thai security guards, Thaksin has also recruited guards from the MI5 intelligence service in London.

According to a report on the web site www.thaiinsider.com, which is owned by the UK-based Oriental Mart Group chief executive officer Ekkeyuth Anchanbutr, Thaksin is now staying at 55 Park Lane, London W1, which belongs to his close friend, Harrods owner Mohamed Al-Fayed.

Thaksin has not gone to his own flat in the plush London suburb of Kensington, where his daughter Pinthongta lived while studying in London.

The website, which had a special reporter monitoring Thaksin's movements, said the deposed PM had asked MI5 to temporarily provide him with security. Thaksin reasoned that he had no confidence in his safety since being overthrown.

Earlier Thaksin issued a statement confirming he was bowing out of politics - to take a "deserved rest" - and calling for early elections and "national reconciliation" in his homeland.

Meanwhile, Thaksin's brother Payap Shinawatra was briefly under military custody yesterday. When Payap landed in Chiang Mai from a flight from Bangkok, he was escorted by the military and detained at a military camp. He was released shortly thereafter.

Thaksin's younger sisters - Yaowapa Wongsawat, Yaowaret Shinawatra and Yinglak Shinawatra - are believed to have fled abroad.

Lock up those assets before they're gone out of Thailand...

Thaksin's wife, children still in Thailand

The military ordered the new anti-corruption panel to start meeting immediately, and a senior official said the members were told to aim at seizing assets of the Thaksin Shinawatra family, foreign news agencies reported today. The Associated Press also confirmed that Mr Thaksin's wife Khunying Pojaman, widely reported to have fled Thailand in panic last Tuesday night just ahead of the declaration of martial law, is safe and sound in Thailand, as is the couple's only son. The AP quoted a source said to be close to the NCCC that the panel intends to proceed swiftly towards seizing Thaksin assets. "We will investigate his assets and use existing laws to confiscate them and money he gained from corruption and abuse of power," the news agency quoted a source it said was a "well-placed official who demanded anonymity because the investigation has not yet been made public. The assets and money [Thaksin] had before he became prime minister will not be touched." Khunying Pojaman and a daughter were at an Air Force compound, under the protection of ousted interior minister Kongsak Wantana, a retired Air Force air marshal. Mr Panthongtae was still at the family home in Bangkok.
