webfact
ISOC: Fewer incidents reported during Ramadan this yearBANGKOK, 23 July 2015 (NNT) – The Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Region 4 Forward Command has revealed that the situation in the Deep South during Ramadan this year showed improvement from last year with fewer attacks.Col Pramote Promin, Spokesperson of the ISOC Region 4 Forward Command, expressed satisfaction with security officers’ performance in protecting Deep South residents and facilitating their activities during this year’s fasting month of Ramadan. He said the overall situation appeared to be more peaceful compared to last year and the number of casualties was on a decline, thanks to stricter enforcement of security measures.According to the spokesperson, a total of 37 insurgent attacks took place in the three southern border provinces during last year’s Ramadan, whereas the number of incidents recorded this year decreased to 33. The number of authorities and civilians killed and injured this year was also lower.Nonetheless, various sectors, including religious networks, have denounced and declared their stance against the violent acts of insurgent groups, claiming such movement is considered a serious violation of Muslim principles.-- NNT 2015-07-
