Entering thailand with new zealand passport

Featured Replies

Hey!

I'm going to Thailand in September on a new zealand passport and will be staying in the country for about 11 months. I am half thai but my thai passport has run out ( it's been 10 years). I do have a thai Id card and will try to get a new valid thai passport done in bangkok as soon as i can. Do i still need a visa? How long can i stay in the country with a new zealand passport even though i have a THAI ID CARD ?

I'd imagine that if you're a Thai national, you won't need a visa to stay here.

Just land on your Kiwi passport and get a new Thai passport as soon as you can. Bring your expired passport with you.

Your ID card is all you need as evidence of you being Thai.

You can enter Thailand using your expired Thai passport.

You can travel to and enter Thailand with an expired Thai passport.

If you entered on your NZ passport you would have to leave and re-enter the country to use your new Thai passport.

Go down to the Thai Consulate off Queen Street in Auckland and check it all out.

A few years ago you could get a renewed Thai passport at the Sydney consulate so i would imagine you could do the same in NZ . Be worth the phone call.

No, a Thai should enter on a Thai passport even if it isn't valid anymore

Landing on Kiwi passport is fine, as long as the OP enters Thailand on a Thai passport, expired or not does not matter.
