Thai DLT warns pickup truck owners not to add any extension to the vehicle

Featured Replies

Will this include nearly every 18 wheeler that is permanently modified to carry at least 50% more than it's safe load.?

Also the Sugar trucks that all have long upright timbers so they can also carry 50% more than they are supposed to ?

Oh god not another law that will never be enforced.Don't these idiots know what ++++ they are making of them selves

So that makes all the songthaews that take the kids to school and back are illegal.Songthaew_in_Pattaya_01.JPG

And what will happen if say, a Crim in Brown finds a modified truck?

That's a rhetorical question by the way.

I will answer anyway : NADA will happen ...

Nanny state in action, it's not a big issue is it?

Hmmm the last picture seems to show he had a dump-bed.....cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

And for his next joke he is going to point out it is also illegal to add 'extensions' to motorbikes as well.

Hell!!! They do that here now. Haven't you seen all the "home made" trikes? What kills me is they act like the bloody things won't go faster than 20kmh. If that's the case they ought not be on the road. lol lol Like so many other vehicles here in Isaan. lol What a circus.

There are obviously many overloaded pickups on the road with a variety of produce etc being transported. Why are the LT authorities prioritising this above the more dangerous practice of carrying humans (up to 15) on the back of a pickup with no means of safety restraint in the event of an accident (sorry brake failure)?

They make up these laws (albeit a good law) so they don't have to deal with the main issues. Like saving lives. Main thing is teach these clowns how to drive first then how to use common sense in loading a vehicle, not overloading. If they want to carry more, buy a bigger truck. Its not rocket science.

Most of those overloads are light-weight loads...string, empty plastic bottles etc.

The modification that absolutely gobsmacked me was a car with BLADES attached to each side of the front spoiler, at lower shin heght.

They were thick, heavy blades, custom shaped to the spoiler, sharpened but rusty.

At least this guy's walking...and not being Thai, had the foresight to leave a hole for his arm.

Quite often the extension is mounted separately to the vehicle, which could pose danger when used to carry large and heavy items.

Amazing...............they realized this ALREADY......Good job

Sorry but another law that will be ignored by police and the government will not make them enforce the law. To many trucks doing it and no one wants to enforce the law unless some one pressures them. They will be transferred to another district!!
