BANGKOK: -- Medics assist a man injured in a motorcycle accident that took place across the street from where a ceremony was being held for a woman killed in the same spot two weeks ago, Pathum Thani, 28 July 2015.

PATHUM THANI — Three people were injured in a motorcycle accident that took place across the street from where a religious service was being held for a pedestrian who was killed on the same crosswalk two weeks ago.

The memorial was dedicated to Lanchakorn Chanklom, 54, who died when a motorcyclist crashed into her while she was walking on a zebra crossing on Rangsit - Pathum Thani Road in Pathum Thani province on 15 July. She was returning home from an event where she had signed a petition calling for a pedestrian bridge to be built over that section of the road.

If these events were not so damn unecessary/sad/frequent and above all (to a greater or lesser degree) preventable it would be ironic!

But we must not let it divert our attention away from lottery prices/submarines/300 yard alcohol exclusion zones and returning happiness.

For heavens sake, make road safety a national priority Dear General and end start working towards ending this needless everyday carnage on the roads of Thailand.

He is busy with his pet project of bicycle paths that motorist do not respect.

Will suffice to say that Thailand is number 2 in traffic fatalities in the world. 75% of those fatalities involve motorcycles in one degree or another.

For eons traffic laws in Thailand have been regarded as mere "suggestions". Traffic police and the rest of the RTP is notorious for their laissez faire attitude towards traffic infractions as a source of personal revenue. AKA tea money.

The naive in TV have often said the solution is to pay a higher salary to the police. cheesy.gif Really ?

Throw money at the problem instead of punishing the crooked and transgressors of the law? Not a chance !

TIT uber ales !!!
