lujanit
I hope this is the right place to post this topic. If not, mods please redirect. I was asked an odd Q this afternoon. A couple living here in Thailand, both European although not from the same country are about to have a child born here. They want to know can the child obtain Thai citizenship/passport as this is what they want. I have seen plenty of examples where one parent is Thai and the other a foreigner but this is the first time I have seen this. Can anyone answer this please. A authoritative source would be good so the couple can check for themselves. TIA
lopburi3
No. Citizenship is not gained by birth in Thailand.
Sawan Chan 7
The child can only get citizenship if one of the parents has Permanent Residency.

samran
Unless one of the parents was Thai, or both parents (not just one) have permanent residency, then the child will not have claim to thai nationality.
