BattyBatty
Can anyone confirm an idle runour i hear that ferrangs are now required to carry passport at all times? Of course this law has allways been around, but apparently becasue of the coup it is now very much enforced and there will be many checks? Can anyone confirm if this is just a humble rumour? GracelessFawn
I've been asked by my HR to carry my 'work permit' at all times, in case I get checked, asked to present it, and as a precaution. She was a bit worried because I don't speak Thai, and she said that there are a lot of millitary guys roaming town! Ironic, isn't it?
geoffphuket
I've always got my Thai driving licence with me at all times. This would probably be accepted as proof of who you are.

You should use the word "foreigner" rather than "farang" in the context of this discussion. It is more accurate. Technically, coup or not, a foreigner should at all times carry proof of their identity and valid immigration status.
