Jumping Koi Carp ?

Here are some reasons the Koi maybe jumping out of the pond.

1} Parasite infection, Flukes,Lice,

2} Spawning activity ,the males chasing the females.

3] something is frightening them,in panic they jump out, I have had Lge heron or egret at my pond.

4} not enough aeration.

How far is the water from the top of the pond?, what kind of pond is it? How big are the Koi ?

regards Worgeordie

We have had the same problem with an above ground pond.Come out in the morning and finding them dead on the ground. Has happened over 7 years.

Obviously not stray cats or heron/ egrets or they would be gone. Approx 30-40 cm in size.In fact we have given up ,drained the pool and put pot plants in.

Had a sense of guilt that we were not providing the right environment for them
