Hi, has anybody any experience of Water storage bladders as per:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Water-Storage-Bladder-Tank-2000L-4000Lx1000Wx500H-mm-WSB2000-/221243002345?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item33831c4de9

I am in a Thai town house with limited space to put a big Home Pro tank.

I am thinking I could put a flexible (PVC or something ) bladder water storage in the loft to supplement my underground tank which holds about 700L.

I could put a platform up there, supported by the tops of the internal walls.

Please understand that 1 litre of water weighs 1kg.

If you were to put a 500 litre bladder tank up there it will weigh 500 kg or 1/2 a ton without the bladder and if the support for it is 2 x 2.5 metres it will be 5 square metres and will have to carry 100kg per square metre. That is of course without the weight of the bladder tank, framework or supports.

If it does collapse you may get a nasty headache at the minimum and possibbly seriously injured and hospitalised.

The only safe place would be on the concrete base on the ground floor.

If you have any garden or outside parking space that would be a better and safer bet.

you can buy tanks that are specifically designed for inside, above ceiling installation. But the supporting structure must be designed to carry the loads.

I don't think that you would like to live under a "water bed" liner especially as much as the rats like to eat the stuff.

I have to agree with the above, water is HEAVY.

The tank suppliers do all sorts of shapes, short fat ones, tall thin ones to fit in with your availalble space.

But the one place I wouldn't put one is in the attic unless you designed for it in the first place.
