Hi. How long it takes to get ED in Penang. Same day or next?

Also do I need thier form to fill in? Is it any different then Vientiane?

Whats the fee for ED ? And what currency I can pay ? Only local?

if you have a flight booked, include e ticket with your paperwork the agent can arrange early pickup next day so you can make your flight cost is around 500 baht extra depending on the agent.

where agents are discouraged in vientiane, they are very much the way forward in penang, i find it worth a few extra baht to never set foot in the embassy, but rather have my paperwork and passport all taken care of.

up to you if you enjoy that 3 hour wait in vientiane to save a few baht, but i most certainly dont.

It is next afternoon service.

If you go before September first the fee is 220 MYR. After the 1st it will be 300 MYR.

It is a different form. I have not found a form for Penang to download.

Unless your school is familiar with Penangs requirements I suggest you ask them to contact the consulate to get them.

Thanks for the form. The one on their website is the generic MFA form.

I have converted it to PDF and will post it on the pinned topic. Penang.pdf

A single entry non immigrant visa can be extended at at an immigration office.

Only one time or more??? If more, what is the point of getting a multi entry then (where available)

Thanks

multiple entry (at least non-o) allows you unlimited trips in and out over the year and is good for a final trip out before expiry that extends your time in kingdom to 15 months.

Thanks, I'm aware of this, used that many times, my question was specifically for the ED.

The 90 day entry from a single entry visa can be extended for infinity. I have been here for over seven years on a single entry non-o visa.

An ED visa entry can be extended 3 times to give a total stay of one year if attending a informal school (language is one). If attending a formal school (university) it can be extended for one year at a time with no limit on the number of times.

A multiple entry visa requires you to leave the country every 90 days. Most people that get them cannot qualify for an extension of stay.

But in your case you're certainly talking about a year extension, with the ED I don't think is possible, max is 90 days extension, or am I wrong?

Let's take my case, here on a non immigrant multiple obtained in KL on 2013, used it till august 2014 when I've applied for a year extension, one week ago I applied and obtained a 60 days extension coz I wasn't meeting the financial requirements... You stated that one can extend a non immigrant infinite number of times... For instance can I extend it again for one year or even other 60 days? I don't think so... Am I wrong?

yes.

Even if it's OT, an I apologize for this, may I know when and their requirements for the issuance of this visa, I was focusing on Savannakhet but this would be an excellent solution for me that live in Phuket. Thanks

I did an edit of my post that while you were doing yourr post that answers the ED visa question.

You can get unlimited one year extensions if you qualify for them, I will be applying for my 8th extension based upon marriage next week of a non-o visa entry I got over 7 years ago.

You can only do one 60 day extension per entry.

what you need to apply is:

copy mothers id card signed by her

copy childs birth cert signed by you

bankbook, updated a day previous to your flight showing you have cash. 400k is ideal, but i have have received this visa with 100k in the account, though my bankbook shows regular cash influxes. if you have a thai company with a decent balance it cant hurt to bring that as well.

2 photos

i use an agent (Jim of Jims Place) easily found on the internet and on Chulia street right next to or across from my preferred hotels.

fee is about 1000 additional baht and i think 5500 or so for the visa - sorry i dont pay much attention to the money part. this fee may include early pick up.

i drop document copies off with agent, fill out form, hand over pics

Paper is submitted the next morning by agent.

Agent picks up visa day after submission.

No consulate visit required.

because i fly, i also submit my printed itinerary for early pickup (another 500 baht i think) and have my passport in time for the 2 or 3pm flight to bangkok or samui.

the early pickup is especially helpful for samui flights which do not leave every day, so it helps avoid a couple extra nights.

it is by far more comfortable and convenient than vientiane in my experience, never tried savhannaket, to much messing around with additional buses, i don't believe you can fly direct. Also no expensive visa to enter Malaysia (43 bucks for a canadian). Malaysian customs is hassle free, short lines, only a fingerprint scan and you are on your way.

Fact is. savannakhet does not ask you any financial proof... but if 100k worked for you it's my way to go... I can show more than that actually, but for now not 400k ... anyway I have time, I'm just trying to collect as much info as possible... thanks.

Im in Penang. Just went to Banana. They said its hard now to get ED visa and its 50/50

If no ED they will give you toirist one.

Then they said its 3 months visa.

Can be extended?

They made me worried.

She was saying its depends on school documents . Full or something missing and ur passport.

Well my passport is ok EU

Documents im sure nothing missing so fingers crossed.

Should go to Laos nah...

The 60 day entry a tourist visa allows can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office. The 3 months is the validity of the visa from the date of issue.

Penang has different requirements to issue a non-ed visa than Laos. If your school is not familiar with Penang's requirements you could have a problem.
