I would like to bring 5 perfumes in Thailand, can I be in troubles at Customs ?

Featured Replies

I would like to bring 5 perfumes for girls..

I am scared I'll be in troubles..

They will tolerate it if I get caught ?

In 20 trips into Thailand Ive never once been asked to open a bag, and even if they did just say they are gifts..

When you arrive at the airport, go to the exit that says "NOTHING TO DECLARE". It's not really that hard.

What is the approximate total value, in THB?

I assume you are aware of the 100 ml limits for carry-on? (you could purchase some/all at DF on the in-bound -to BKK- flight, or even upon arrival at BKK; some DF shops ex-XXX going to BKK will also sell larger volumes, and put them in sealed bags)

I think Thai Customs just raised the limit from 10,000 baht to 20,000 baht.

I think that you will be fine. Unless you have a lot of other items I would just use the Green Channel.

I often bring back similar items/quantities and have not encountered issues.

BANGKOK – Customs department Director General Somchai Sajjapong has reported that Thai and foreign tourists are now allowed to bring in with them personal belongings worth 20,000 baht into Thailand with no import tax from earlier fixed at 10,000 baht.
The increase in the value of personal belongings brought in by both Thais and foreigners into the country with import tax exemption is now in force.
Director General Somchai Sajjapong said the change in the value of personal belongings with tax exemption has become effective July 10.

There is no specific restriction/limit on perfume.

Would just be an interpretation of "good for personal use" or so.

What they are really watching out sharply for is cigarettes and alcohol.

Don't take any risk on that.

Penalties are harsh.

The linked webpage is still showing "Copyright © 2009 The Customs Department - Thailand. All Rights Reserved." so I would be cautious of the information contained therein.

(I didn't check when the page was actually updated)

Years ago my sister sold perfume and had many sample bottles. One time I brought more than 200 samples (they were in small tubes) The customs man looked at them ask me what they were. I told him then he said he should charge you something for import but donot know how much. I told him they were for gifts to people and ask if $20 was ok.,because i didnot have thai money yet. He ask how much is $20 in thai money I told him 600 baht he said ok. I paid $20 and went my way. I think he did the paper work later.

An optimist; someone that believes that he did the paperwork later
