PATTAYA: -- An NGV tank on a container truck ruptured causing a fire which burst a tire. No injuries and minimal disruption to traffic was reported.

The incident occurred in East Pattaya on Highway 36 in the Pong area on Wednesday afternoon. The truck driver, Khun Sutorn aged 51 first realized there was a problem when his brakes began to fail on his truck. He immediately stopped his truck and inspected the rear of the vehicle where he saw the fire had taken-hold close to one of the wheels which subsequently burst.

The fire spread to the grass contained within the central reservation of the Highway and it took fire fighters 30 minutes to bring the fire under control after they arrived.

One day we might get a report that is actually accurate. The title say a 'NGV FIRE' which obviously it was not, another case of reporters trying to make things worse than they are.

From my experience with trucks it looks like he ran the truck with a flat tyre which caught fire

Or the brakes on the front bogie locked up and generated enough heat to start the fire

Use your mirrors to look behind you not to brush hair but to see whats happening

Looks like a brake fire to me. That is the back of the trailer no where near the NGV tanks.

Absurd.

Utter nonsense.

NGV gas (lighter than air) creeping to the rear wheel and igniting at the breaks???

If the concentration of NGV is high enough to ignite at the rear axel, then the whole truck would have burned in hellfire and Khun Sukom would be very lucky to have escaped.

Don't smoke what the author of this article consumes.

Last month in our district town, no NGV on fire:

It took Somchai and some policemen a couple bottles of water until problem fixed:
