to qualify for a retirement visa you have to be over 50 years of age have an income of 65 thousand baht a month and 800 thousand baht in the bank . if you are married you need 400 thousand baht in the bank .

Inaccurate Information!

1. For an extension of stay based on retirement 800k in a Thai bank OR an income of 65k a month is required. It is also possible to combine income and money in the bank to reach the 800k

2. For an extension of stay based on marriage an income of 40k/month OR 400k in a Thai bank is required

What is accurate then?

The point is that the requirements for a retirement extension are the same whether you are married or not. Being married to a Thai just gives you an alternative reason for applying for an extension (with lower financial requirements), but it wouldn't be a retirement extension.

Others may have different experiences, but the retirement one-year extension (not a visa) is granted on being 50 years of age or older and based on an income of THB 65,000 per month or THB 800,000 per year or a combination of income and savings totally THB 800,000. Since there is no marriage requiremnt - I do not see why your marital status would be part of the process nor why your wife's (should you have one of any nationality) attendance would be required.

Agreed but I'm glad my Thai lady always accompanies me. This year at Sri Racha (also part of Chon Buri) extra paperwork was deemed necessary, i.e. medical cert plus she had to complete housemaster form and provide a copy of her ID. This was not required in 2014 and it could not have been completed without her presence. Not sure if they will require these extras again next year but I assume they will, just as they require the same photocopies again and again every year.

I live in the province of Surin and Kap Choeng is being a pain in the arse for retirement extensions. I also have a condo which is almost completed in Pratumnak. Sounds like Jomtien's going to get my vote next year.

I agree with you as I am in the middle of dramas with this office also. Their treatment of foreigners is abysmal.

If I get my extension I will move to another province. If my extension is not approved I will leave the country and move elsewhere in Asia.

You needed a medical certificate for a retirement extension? Why would a housemaster form be part of a retirement extension process? Seems might be talking about two different things. Or maybe you are talking about a marriage extension? Did you do this at Jomtien as per this topic?

That certainly looks more comprehensively accurate.

I would suggest the first post was not inaccurate, simply incomplete

Sri Racha and a couple of other odd immigration offices that want a medical certificate when applying for an extension based upon retirement.,

There are offices that want a TM30 form for any extension application

As I wrote, my office is at Sri Racha which, like Jomtien, is a part of Chon Buri Immigration.

Retirement extension as I am not married.
