For 650 baht it's great. I tried it so I could get a feel for what it was like to wear a smartwatch. I'l like a more comfortable band (leather), waterproof and more positive touch screen controls. Voice control or stylus control would be nice. I like the look of the Pebble but wonder if you can send and receive calls and messages on it. Battery life I'm still playing with and don't know how long it will last. I'd like enough to make a few calls in a row without a recharg. My test has been good and I'm ready to spend some real money to buy a good one. Not apple because my phone is android and I'll not switch.

Thanks. Good info. More specific question: Would it be a reasonable piece of kit to wear while bicycling or scootering when pulling a phone out of my pocket wouldn't be prudent?

Surely on a bike a Bluetooth ear piece would be better so that you can keep both hands firmly on the handlebars.

Not a problem hearing or talking from about 12 inches.
Must have an awesome speaker on it if you can hear the person talking from 12 inches away with a helmet on.

Not much of a problem with a bicycle helmet on a quite bicycle- and that's when I'm most likely to need to answer because those rides can last for hours.

Not so sure about a noisy scooter- though my normal scooter helmet is a beanie type. Only if I'm taking a motosai out of my neighborhood do I wear the full face helmet- and that happens once in a blue moon... in fact, I don't ever recall wearing the full face helmet. And in a normal day, I spend about 5 minutes on a scooter taxi- so those calls may not get answered until I get off the scooter. (FYI, My own scooter always stays parked, because I'm a chicken in BKK traffic)

Good info. Thanks

Now I use a little power pack for back up in case of running out of power with my phone or watch.

For 650 baht, I'd consider buying 2 and using one in the morning and keep one at my desk for a backup. Plug in the morning unit when I leave the office and let it charge until the next afternoon.

Is there a flaw in that thinking?

You didn't say anything about a helmet in your post. And if you want to start a fight pick another thread.wai2.gif I'm tired of it.

That would work. The watch takes over the phone answering so it you want to use your phone you disconnect the bluetooth on the watch.

And Superman would let the bad guys shoot him repeatedly without flinching.. then duck when they threw the gun at him. You just can't believe those '40's comics.

Perhaps the gun was made of Kryptonite.

Good point. Hadn't thought of that.

But back on topic, I did come up with a couple of flaws while riding the MRT:

1) Regarding having 2 watches for battery redundancy, I forgot my phone chews through the battery in Bluetooth mode. With all the Google and Samsung bloatware (no, not rooted), it barely gets through the day as is. No problem, though, since I'd only be using the smartwatch during those times when it's not safe to reach into my pocket. But since the bugaboo is just being in Bluetooth mode, a backup watch is probably not going to add any value. Unless I root the phone to delete the bloatware, and that's a whole 'nother thread...

2) Regarding the Bluetooth earpiece option, see #1. Plus, I have to take off my glasses to put on my full face helmet, then put them back on when the helmet's on. It won't fit over my fat, white guy head with any protuberances except my ears. I can't imagine how I'd be able to wear a Bluetooth ear piece with that helmet. With my bicycle helmet and my beanie type scooter helmet, no problem.
