Pheu Thai submits opposition to draft charter to NRC
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Former Pheu Thai MPs Thursday submitted the party's letter to the National Reform Council, expressing its opposition to the draft charter.

Former Chiang Rai MP Samart Kaewmeecha, former party-list MP Chavalit Witchayasutthi and acting deputy party secretary general Preechapol Pongpanit submitted the letter to NRC President Thienchay Kiranandana.

Samart said the draft would continue to suppress the people by perpetuating the power of the National Council for Peace and Order through the National Strategic Reform and Reconciliation Committee.

Well well, the pot calling the kettle black.

From their past record PT and their leaches have no credibility whatever to make comment / criticism about about building or maintaining democracy.

Actually they do. The last government (however incompetent and corrupt) was democratically elected by a majority of the voters. The junta wasn't.

No matter which team you cheer for, the above statement is correct in point of fact and in simple. The " National Strategic Reform and Reconciliation Committee." has the power to reject any candidate they don't like, there is no concrete criteria, and further can declare any situation a crisis to appoint whomever they want to be an un-elected MP.

It is a built-in political coup. Both sides are refusing to reconcile because neither wants to share power. Neither one. It's a tragic comedy of errors.

No one with two neurons is surprised at this. And who will audit the referendum?

Probably...either the Dusit Pollsters or the TAT number crunch division. blink.png

Using your preferred definition of "majority" of course. tongue.png

Of course!biggrin.png

Thaksin's clan doesn't like the draft charter. So it must be good for the country and bad for self serving politicians.

No matter who is in power, the greatest losers will be guess who...

Yes but, but, but....Thaksin!

That's a very simplistic view. Some would call it simple minded.

Love or hate the opposition, but they were ALSO elected.

Anyone who knows if the letter has been made publicly available? Any link (if possible to English translation) ?

Gee, if only there were some way to let the people decide who they wanted in power. An election maybe?

Hmm you mean the opposition which were installed by the Court? PTP have won every election in memory

Which part of "they were ALSO elected" didn't you understand? The opposition is the group of MPs which are not part of the (coalition) government. In 2011 we had 195 of them (out of 500).

BTW the possibility to choose a non-elected person as (interim) PM in situations of grave disagreement and lack of cooperation was firmly rejected by a few here, and also by Pheu Thai. Still it would seem even normal, democratic countries chose such ways when pressed.

The Greek President just appointed top Supreme Court judge, Vassiliki Thanou, as caretaker prime minister ahead of early elections next month.

Makes you wonder why some, like the Pheu Thai of the OP protest so much.
