14 Orangutans found abandoned in Phuket to be sent back to Indonesia next month.

RATCHABURI, 28 August 2015, (NNT) - Fourteen orangutans found abandoned on roadside in Phuket province are to be sent back to Indonesia next month.

after conducting physical examination of the primates with a team of Indonesian vets, officials from Khao Prathab Chang Wildlife Husbandry Station in Ratchaburi said the 14 primates would be returned to Indonesia next month.

The husbandry station's residential veterinarian Sirinthip Khemthong told the media that the test samples of the 14 orangutans are being processed by laboratories of Mahidol University's Veterinary Faculty, National Institute of Health and the Department of Livestock Development. The test results are expected to be disclosed in a couple of weeks.

According to an initial investigation, the primates were smuggled into the country and destined for a private zoo in Phuket. They were later abandoned before being discovered and transferred to the husbandry station in Ratchaburi Province. The 14 apes will be sent back to Indonesia in compliance with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).

And will the 'private zoo' have the full weight of the law thrown at them? I'd like to know who the owners are and smack them into their future lives as cockroaches.

Probably be large dogs painted orange.

First the ivory smashed and now apes going home. Good news.

First the ivory smashed and now apes going home. Good news.

Ivory is bad news.......it should have been sold. By crashing it it keeps the market price high and the profit for people who kill elephants.

They need to round up the monkeys causing trouble in Southern Thailand and send them packing to Malaysia and Indonesia...

Does that means I have to say good by to my wife ?gigglem.gif

'fraid so...

Maybe many men will have to say goodbyethumbsup.gif to your wife,

Farnagutans next?

Farang Lings next. (the grumpy old ones on TV first )

Yes its sad news but there is a silver lining, Things are changing for the better. Thanks to the General

I had better tell a few of my pals to keep a low profile then in case they get caught up in this deportation.

Don't the natives in Craponesia eat Orangutans?
