Recent Problem In Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I hope this hasnt been pinned in another area somewhere, but in November I am booked in to head to Phuket and then to BKK for some hollidays with my spouse. I am also taking some good friends, and first time oversears travellers with me (yep at my suggestion!!) and have told them how great Thailand is.

Well this fun holliday feeling has kind of been dulled down by the recent events in Thailand and the Aussi Govt placing alerts on the Smarttraveller site advising of the warnings ect for travelling to Thailand.

We are not due to fly out until November and while i`m not imagining any problems over there, can anyone living in the area shed some light on how the situation is over there now, and are tourists being effected at all? While I dont mind army tanks, I wouldnt mind a hassle free holliday ;-)

I am hoping by mid November it is business as usual in the land of smiles !

It is ok to travel, the media always blow out things and so does the austrtalian goverment on travelling anywhere.

Tourists are not being bothered ... have seen 0 change in Phuket.

I did figure as much, thanks guys !

Since the Bali bombing Mk I Australia has over reacted on all travel warnings. They ignored intelligence about the possibility of a bombing, so now they jump at shadows. All is well here right now. :o

I think you have more of a chance of getting mugged, robbed, or killed in Los Angeles than you do here in Thailand.

Recent problems here ? Has the price of som tam increased ?? :o
